Lockout, sticky disengagement, WTF?

My clutch is acting up on me all of a sudden. I have an ACT XTSS and it was working fine until today. The problems are:

1- High RPM lockout. Yes, I adjusted the pedal and it can't be adjusted anymore. Theres only 1 - 1.5 threads left.

2- High RPM sticky disengagement. I bring it up to almost 8k, and when I go to shift the clutch doesnt disengage when I push in the pedal. It releases after a second but its definately not disengaging properly. It doesn't do this under normal driving conditions.

3- After a cold start, I put it in neutral and let off the clutch pedal and the car moves forward a couple inches. Only when its cold. This also tells me its not disengaging completely.

The clutch is new. Only about 4,500 mi. It has about 35 dyno pulls and 6 or 7 launches on it. It feels fine under normal daily driving conditions. What can I do to fix this? I know it needs to disengage. But the pedal is already adjusted out to the last thread or 2. I want to fix whats wrong now so i don't ruin another clutch. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Classic case that is usually fixed by clutch adjustment. If you adjusted and it still does all that, then that really sucks. I had to go almost all the way out on my ACT eventually, but then it wore out and started slipping.

Yeah, it sucks. I haven't adjusted it since this started happening. Theres no more room. Maybe I can get 1/2 a thread out of it, but thats not gonna do much good.

Hmm, sounds like you're describing what happened to me to a "T". I adjusted mine all the way out, and ended up needing a new clutch because it was done. I had the RRE X-clutch with ACT street disc, and it lasted 20k miles, 30+ dyno pulls, and 15 or so launches at the track.

sounds like you warped something from overheating the clutch. Either the flywheel got warped or the pressure plate, or you "balled" up some friction material off the clutch face and deposited it somewhere else, causing a high spot. Classic symptoms of overheating your clutch.

Engagement is still smooth. Doesn't feel like anything is warped. But after about 30 dyno pulls in one day, thats entirely possible. It wasn't slipping though, so i didn't think anything of it.

Anyway, no update really. I used the last 1/2 thread and it helped a little. I don't launch it anymore though. Only highway pulls for now and not too many. I feel one launch will end this clutch right now. My new clutch will be here within a couple days. If I notice anything out of the ordinary with the old clutch when I take it out i'll update the thread.

IMO, the surfaces are probably warped, especially since it happened suddenly. Usually you won't have any appreciable difference in torque capacity. Think of how a warped brake rotor works. The difference with a clutch though is that most times the clutch still operates smoothly. Honestly our XT pressure plate is going to be a little more sensitive to warpage as well because we are pushing the limits of the pressure plate. FYI, we can rebuild parts typically for a fraction of the cost as long as they are not real bad, so you may not need to replace them.
