HKS Type-1 Turbo Timer

wussup fellas

i purchased an HKS Type-1 TT and i have the harness from a 95-99 DSM...

i was able to plug the harness into the key ignition connection, but I need to know where to splice, tap the 3 wires into where...

first grey wire goes into the "vehicle park brake wire" which i know i have to take off the center console to attach

Blue wire goes into the RPM sensor in the ECU... where the hell is that? and how do i "splice/tap" into it?

Sorry for such the newbie question... i did a search and no one did a walk through or tutorial on how to installl a type-1 TT... i will definately when i'm done! so you're helping more than me out, but further HKS type-1 owners

tnx guys!

that's the link to the pdf install instructions...

you have to tap the wire off of the ECU... the diagram of the ECU is the same as the 95-99 eclipse...

I'm installing the same TT later on today... where are you mounting it??

i was thinking about mounting it to the right of the steering wheel toward the screw at the bottom of the plastic panel... that way it's kinda hidden but you can still see it through the steering wheel...

i was also thinkin bout cutting a hole through the plastic to the left of the steering wheel next to the HID adjuster knobs...

what about you?

isnt that what a harness is for?? So you dont have to splice?

Anyways, sounds like you need the wiring diagram for the ecu found here:

I would like to see some pics of where you located the HKS TT if you got 'em. I am trying to decide between HKS and APEXi. It seems you get more features for your money with HKS but I'm not sure how bulkey the unit is and where it will go?

Thanks,
smanders

The HKS fits perfectly between the lower console and the bottom of the cubby hole thing. If you look where the shifter and the cigarette lighter is and go towards the firewall, there's about a 1 inch gap between that and the dash where the HKS TT slides perfectly.

Try puttin it in the small compartment by you left knee. I have my BC there. TT's are small and it will fit snug. I'm sure the HKS will fit. Here's a ****ty picture, taken with my camera phone.

Do you have problems hitting the coin holder at all whenever you push the clutch in and out or how about getting in the car and out! If you wanna put on that location, why not just take the whole coin holder out and mount a bracket to hold the BC or TT rather than velcroed in.

Btw... I ordered me an HKS TT Type 1 as well with the harness. I asked about the harness and they said it should be the one from the Evo VII (CT9A) so we'll see.

I have a Blitz turbo timer and it's very small, it fits perfectly behind the steering column.

Here is a installation guide for an Apex turbo timer with pictures.

I have a type-0 turbo timer and I had installed right on top of the steering column. Not a stealthy installation but it gets the job done.

I had the timer installed at the local dealership. No harness was available so it was spliced to the necessary lines. I was charged 1hr of labor which was about $71.00 and it was covered by the warranty.

I originally wanted to install the timer in that location but distance between the cubby hole and lower console was a bit tight. I t would of probably fit but i think it would squeeze the turbo timer.
