Driveline Lash...again

Guys, Im sorry to re-re-visit this topic...but it's driving me NUTZ!

I have a LOT of lash in the driveline/drivetrain/whatever. I tried an Ingalls ETD, but it didn't help much. Then I dropped in the Forge front motor mount. Again, not much help. The car rocks forward and back like MAD.

I can't see if the engine is moving, causing the problem. I even drove around with the hood removed, but I can't really see.

I am at the point now where I hate driving the car.

Could this be in the transfer case?

The tranny is freshly rebuilt by Mitsubishi, and I made them double check the tolerances, so I dont think it's the tranny.

Thanks!

BTW, if it matters, I have the Exedy twin disc clutch.

I have noticed this kind of bucking after i got my exedy twin installed as well. Its not intolerable but its there. I'm thinkin it might have sumthin to do with the springs in the disks maybe? Do you have cams?

I know what you guys are referring to as it has happened to me, what I did to solve the problem is install the rear motor mount upgrade, after that all my sounds and problems went away

At this point Im willing to try nearly anything. Ill try the rear motor mount upgrade. Where did you get yours? Is the installation tricky?

Yes, I have the HKS 280s that idle like an old Chevelle.

Yeah I'm running the Buschur Racing front and rear motor mounts, the rear installation is tricky, and if you dont have a press or a way of melting out the old bushing then you're screwed

Update:

Recently I removed nearly all my aftermarket modifications in preparation to sell/trade the Evo. With the stock cams and stock motor mounts in the car, the "rocking sensation" that Im talking about is reduced quite a bit. I test drove a IX this weekend and it has the same rocking sensation, only not as bad. I think that the rocking is more pronounced in my car due to the Exedy twin disc clutch (you can "hear" the rocking becuase of the noisy clutch)

I had tried Urethane motor mounts (front and rear engine mounts), Ingalls stiffy ETD, and had the tranny/transfer case looked at by the dealer. All of the motor mounts and ETDs made the problem WORSE - or at least much more evident. 3 different mechanics all agreed that there is no problem, that it is normal with AWD vehicles, so I guess Ill put this topic to bed for now.

this doesn't sound right... it would appear you have something installed incorrectly, possibly your clutch (maybe warped housing) or something else in teh driveline. something that is misaligned is allowing you to hear and feel this and somehow it gets worse with the motor mounts.

notice that others have only cited that their lash goes away with motor mounts. you obviously have something else as a problem.
