Problem starting when engine hot??

I have a problem I would like to solve. Sometimes when I drive my car a little harder with the stereo on at full potential I have a problem starting my car. When I turn the key I hear one simple click. The engine does not turnover in any way. It will sometimes turnover when I try a little later (20 30 seconds). But the usual is to let my car cool down for 5 to 15 min and then it starts with no problem. This does not occur all the time.

1.One diagnosis was the starter sylenoid going bad. I replaced the starter with a non-brand new starter, but much newer than mine.

2.Also changed out plugs, coils and plug wires.

3.The next diagnosis is my battery getting too hot (heat sinked)???

I am running one of the smaller battery kits similar to those found regularly on the site. I have the aem ems with other goodies to include. Problems started awhile after I uprgraded my sound system to Alpine deck, full Focal audio interior, this along with the heated weather change.

So question is your opnion on problem? I was advise to upgrade to an Optima mini yellow battery. I am probably just going to relocate to the trunk to allow extra room under the hood, but currently would not like to spend more money on another battery.

Is it maybe the ignition?? Perhaps needing something more like the advanced HKS DLI system. Thanks for opinons!

One click?

Loose cable ends, loose starter bolts can cause a bad ground.

Or starter itself. Get a brand new oem if it's bad.

Thanks, I will try the starter bolts by chance, overall chance of starter being bad is very low. Would it make since that this only occurs when the car is heated up with a lot of power running for awhile? If it were wires, or bolts (still will check though), I would think it would happen more randomly. Thanks again.

Any ideas on that heat sunk battery??

When is does it next time, put jumper cables and see if the low current that does not let it start the battery.
Also turn off the stereo before restart, and make sure the light on the amp is not lit, as it might not being hooked to the off lead wire to command it to go off when stereo is off.

Good luck

Thanks for that. Little things you would never think of. Cool.
