Quote: To be honest I didn't think the Works 02 Housing would make a lot of power. I am currently running and the reason I got it because its bigger and it has the stock bolt support. I also have some money to throw around, lol. Another thing about these tests that Dave does with his white RS, I feel their would be different outcome because that white RS as we all know is well built up with engine and everything. If Dave did this with Trent's car or car with just basic bolt-ons and then we would get more relative data to our cars. But thats my opinion. Anyhow thanks for the test, Dave.
i think we got as much testing we can with the car he tested them on. that car is so fine tunned it is made to make the best of whats there. useing a reg evo like most of ares would show worse gains on everything he tested. so it will make no difference.

It's hard to say exactly because everything was put on at the same time. However, people who drive my car seem impressed that it's still on stock cams. On 100 octane, I put down basically the same numbers as a TME car with cams and a test pipe, both of which were tuned by Shiv back-to-back.

Holy crap. I walked away and this is 3 pages. I am only on page 1.

PLEASE DO NOT bash Works. There 02 housing and the Invidia WOULD be a gain over the stock unported housing for sure!!

In my last testing I went from our ported/coated stock 02 housing to the SS Ebay housing and gained an additional 13-15 whp OVER our already ported/coated stock housing.

This means that the Works and Invidia is worth a minimum of about 9-11 whp over stock.

Bottom line, as I said is the large housing just isn't needed on the stock style turbine housing and the 3" outlet flange does nothing.

The problem lies in thats what they considered an advantage over the other O2 housings, which in fact makes it a false claim....right?

I don't think they ever claimed that, but they did boast fitment and build quality which is obviously unmatched.

vanisher,

The SS Ebay style housing does not have a bracket on it. I have not seen any problems at all with it not having a bracket. The thin wall headers you are referring to break with our without a support bracket. I did a bunch of header testing too, there was one header that I tested that made more power than stock, the Full Race.

EVO23IG,

I think your opinion of using my RS for testing is WAY off. If anything my car being as built as it is would make a part such as this INCREASE the HP even more. Adding a larger 02 housing to a stock EVO wouldn't help as the stock part isn't a restriction at that point. My car on the other hand is making as much power as possible and doing it through the 2.5" SS housing. If there were going to be gains it would be more likely on a car that was possibly already testing the limits of what was being used.

I don't know how Works advertised their housing. IF they made claims to it making more power than stock, being larger, being 3", being cast iron and fitting properly than they advertised it 100% factual. If they said it makes more power than anyone else's 02 housing I'd say that is not factual. Works has seemed to be a good company, we have nothing at all against them and the part does fit well and is huge. Power though.........not quite there compared to the other two.

The company that should be ashamed is Invidia, that part doesn't fit.

David,

Can you explain why the HP curve is totally flat after 5300?

My graph of before and after the install of the Works O2 housingthey are checking to see if I have any boost leaks and doing a compression and leak down test, and changing the plugs to see why I lost power):

Mods are
AMS TBE
AMS IC piping
AMS Flash
AMS IC
HKS RS INTAKE
basically bolt ons

Dave,

Do you have A/F and boost charts to go along with this graph? I'm in agreement that these parts don't make power over the Ebay O2, just curious on their effects in that regard.

Also, do you think these housing could have made more power with tuning? I understand that your RS is tuned to the max with the Ebay setup, I do wonder, however, if the 3" O2 housings reduce backpressure enough to make the engine less knock prone and allow a bit more timing.

I think you're being completely irrational revvin9k. You need to stop fighting a battle you can't win.

Thanks for the tests Dave .
