boost spuddering problem

i have a 04 evo 8 with only hks full exhaust w/ turbo xs downpipe and cat delete, injen full air intake system. i bought my car new and had it for about a year along with this stuff on it. the other day it started to make a spuddering sound and feel and time i went about 10 to 15 psi into boost. it does this all the way up to 20 psi and continues until im out of boost again. funny thing is it stopped for like 3 days then started doing it again. seems like when i first get in it, it will usually start doing it at about 17 or 18 but then after a min or two back down to 10 -15 again. any ideas? need help cause dealerships are morons and say well we need it to be stock for us to really tell. please help. thanks

First of all, you're just hurting yourself by driving around with those mods and no tune. It's bad for the car and robs you of power.

However, this is probably not related to that. You probably just need to put in a fresh set of plugs. Go to Advanced Auto, buy a set of NGK BPR7ES (part #2023), gap them to .026, then slap 'em in and see if it helps.

thats funny that you say that cause the dealership said that there was moisture in some of the plugs. they said they tried to dry em but still same prob. once dry will they be ok or do i need new ones to fix it. also why does it affect them at high boost and why would it have stopped for a few days after i put new gas in it? thx

No, man, no reason to mess around with the plugs when they're so cheap to replace. The plugs I told you to get will cost less than $8 TOTAL. Get them and try it before making another post. If they don't work, then you have a fresh set of plugs for only $8.

They are most likely to cause sputtering right when you hit peak boost, because the spark gets blown out. There is no correlation to putting in new gas, though.

warrtalon thx for all the help man. drying them out did the trick so you were right about the spark being the prob. hey quick question. 300whp w/ evo vIII was that with a tune and what parts if you dont mind me asking. also you are not the first to tell me that what i have on my car is hurting me without a tune. so does that mean with a tune my stuff is good? fyi the only reason i do not have a tune is cause i am in military and a few months after buying the car and installing all my stuff i got transferd to hawaii where there is no awd dynos to properly tune this car. any suggestions. thx man

Are you asking about the Warrtalon package in my sig? There's a hyperlink right there for you to click on that has all the information you're seeking. Yes, of course, the packages include a tune - wouldn't make sense to have a package without tune, since that's the most important part. The parts are all listed in detail in that link, too.

You do not need a dyno to properly tune your car. That was not a valid reason for not getting tuned. You can get a mail-in flash at any time and be in good shape, plus Dynoflash went to Hawaii to tune Evos not long ago, but not sure if you were available at the time.

I still don't think you should keep using those plugs even though you dried them out. Get a fresh set and have them spare in case the problem resurfaces.

just send in your ecu to dynoflash... it won't take that long to get it flashed and get back to you... and you'll be more than satisfied when you get a tune... and about the dyno thing in hawaii... sucks doesn't it? i used to live there all my life until i moved to vegas... so yea, my friend had a hard time tuning his car with out a dyno... so all he did was street tune it until it ran good... so far he's the fastest street evo in hawaii... and he live's in maui

Dude listen to Warrtalon and fork over the 8 bucks for some plugs. C'mon you spend the $20-$30 every so often to change oil. Just change your plugs at the same time.
