I think the more appropriate question would be HOW long and durable you want it to be with a given whp

I would think up to 430 - 450 whp you could have a nice daily drive stock motor evo

Over that it makes sense to loose the balance shafts and change rods and pistons

A stock motor can make well in excess of 500 whp or more - its a question of how long it will last at that power level

i agree...

i think you can run up to 25 PSI bone stock safely w/out blowing your motor as long as you dont aggressively drive your evo all the time.

I believe that is his question. How much Boost can the stock internals of the EVO hold?

30psi safely?

26psi safely?

35psi safely?

Etc.

The question is invalid - you're asking the wrong question. You won't make more power by just raising the boost on a stock Evo - that's not smart. You can run 30psi with race gas and a few free flow mods, but I don't recommend raising the boost at all in stock form.

Lol.

I run 100 octane only and have the boost set at 26psi. It doesn't hold it normally holds near 24.5-25psi.

Detonation kills your motor. so using 91octane or 93 octane and pressing 26psi will kill your motor due to the detonation. Running high boost is fine with high octane fuel to combat detonation

even better response.

better question would be :

Assuming the proper fuel is being used ,

What is the highest amount of boost the Stock motor can handle given no detonation? Using Dynoflash's example if 30psi is 425WHP and 35psi is 435 WHP is there a difference ? remember assuming no detonation and we are within that 450whp barrier Dynoflash has given

If your car is bone stock, you would really need to get an aftermarket exhaust in order to run more boost, otherwise I think you will have to much back pressure.

I run 24 daily with 26-27 on high boost (3-10x a week) no problems.

Your IC pipes will blow off over 20 lbs.

As long as you set your A/R to 17.9:1, run a 75 shot of nitrous, the motor should handle around 30 psi easy...on 87 octane. Its a great motor.
