HELP: hks resonator hitting the driveshaft

The resonator on my hks catback is hitting the knuckle on the driveshaft (mostly when turning hard). I've searched around and haven't found any good solutions..
Anyone with hks exhaust fix this problem on their evo?
I've thought about just putting straight pipe in place of the resonator...or moving the resonator. Any suggestions?

Get the Kartboy exhaust mounts. This should allow the system to hardly move which may help your problem.

Yeah, those hangers help a bunch. I have a few friends who have it on their cars and they swear their exhausts don't move at all. On a side note, I have brand new Kartboy hangers if you want them. PM me if you're interested.

It's kind of Ghetto and not my first choice but you could just put a small ding in the resonator where it hits. It's not like you would be reducing the inner diameter of the exhaust or anything it would probably just squish the fiberglass inside the resonator.

common w/ HKS, poor design. Tolerances on the cars coupled with HKS's 'too close for comfort' installation causes problems on some Evos.

Will kartboy hangers cause more vibration since they're stiffer?

Nope, less vibration, if any at all.

The clearances are far to tight on some cars. I have had this issue with my hks carbon ti and when I got around to installing my dp I got a chance to look at the resonator again. Needless to say it was pretty bad.

The kartboy hangers did not solve this issue. After denting the resonator and adding tie wraps to limit the movement to the drivers side I have yet to have another issue.

All HKS had to do was put the resonator 2-3 inches further downstream and there would never be an issue.

Can you get the kartboy hangers at local auto stores?? I have this problem. There's space between the driveshaft and pipe but when at idle, it tends to vibrate and hit each other..

I just ordered my kartboy hangers from www.kartboy.com

If the hangers dont solve the problem (which enjanir said they won't), I'l take it to a shop to either replace the resonator with straight pipe or move it back a couple inches.

Will this slight wear on the driveshaft from the resonator hitting it every now and then cause balancing problems in the future?

I had the HKS exhaust and the kartboy hangers at one time and I still had rubbing between the pilot shaft and the resonator. I bought a new exhaust system to fix my problem. Also, try not to mix and match exhaust parts from different manufactures. This can lead to poor fitment. The HKS exhaust seems to work best only as a cat-back system.
