How much of a difference is the 20g suppose to make?
I bought a slightly used one from nolimit and very disappointed. My stock 16g was awesome. low end torque was there all the time. Early spool up. Pretty good power. Now that I installed the 20g and did the tune. It just doesn't compare.
At the same boost level it had less torque, boost came in later and top end only increase very little 3-5 hp.
Is this true to all 20g's or I got one thats just a EVO9 16G.?

You got the 20g-9-6, which isn't as good. It's already been shown that it has to be cranking big boost on race gas or alky to show gains, and even those gains aren't much. It's not meant for just slapping onto a lightly-modded Evo using pump gas daily.
If you just got a stock IX, you would have gained around 20whp/20wtq without a loss of torque and only a minimal difference in spool.

I did try race gas. I just didn't want to write too long.
I didn't wanna push the boost too high. I got up to 24psi and it falls to 18.
The boost graph is more of my concern, it just didn't hold. All my IC pipes were pressure tested to 15 psi without a leak.
I'm not saying No limit is not known, instead looking for input on other comparison.

The forge unit provides a much stiffer spring which keeps the flapper closed longer to speed up spool-up time and increases torque. With this mod, I was able to sustain 23psi on pump, 28, then falls to 23psi
I am also running a TurboSmart e-boost2 bosst controller. I can control actuator, boost in each gear, and meth.
24 psi is cake for that 20G. On C-16, that turbo loves 26-28 psi.
Make sure you or who ever installs it, adjusts the actuator arm so it has maximum pre-load, and no play.

This is with the red spring, correct? IYO is max preload 19#, or is it higher? I ask 'cause I have my Forge preloaded to 17# on my TME, which for me is o.k. as I am only running 18# at present, due to crappy octane availabilty.
I too noticed that my turbo ramped up much quicker with the Forge WGA as opposed to the stock WGA. And yeah, has to be because the stiffer spring keeps the WG puck planted on the seat longer before beginning to lift. Quite a noticeable difference!

Due to my experience with the 6-blade 20G and the inferiority of its performance, I recommend AVOIDING this turbo altogether. This turbo should NOT be confused with the 5-blade 20G offered by Bushur Racing, which costs more, but offers superior performance.

Without getting into a 5 blade or 6 blade debate, lets look at some other possibilities. The turbo you bought and installed should certainly make more power and torque. Just think about it, you upgraded from an 03 turbo ( 9.8 hotside) to an EVO 9 turbo with the 20G blade conversion. You should have GAINED power just by virtue of it having a larger compressor housing and larger hotside. Once again, I'm not going get into the 6 blade and 5 blade comparison, its already been beat to death.
What I will say is that I have the same turbo as the one you just installed and I came from an 05 MR turbo. I certainly felt the difference and I gained power across the board, even with 91 octane. I've only started to experiement with race gas and have boosted to 23 psi and dropped to 21 psi at redline. Having said that, it sounds like there is something else going on besides the turbo itself, especially when you say you boost to 24 psi and dro to 18 psi. That is way to much of a drop off. You might want to pressurize (boost leak test) a bit higher than 15 psi. Also, a Forge waste gate actuator wouldn't hurt either.
Would you happen to have the dyno graph for us to see? It would be nice to see how the power curve is...good or bad. What number was your car making previously and after the turbo upgrade?

Based on a conversation I had with forge last week I don’t believe forge have produced a WGA for the Evo IX turbo as yet. Im desperately after one as im using a stock Evo IX actuator on my 20G9-6 and the boost spikes and tappers. It’s a right pain and hoping their WGA will stablise boost across the rev range.
Im assuming that those using a forge WGA on the IX is some sort of hacked up Evo VIII forge WGA ???

Justchil - did you see any noticable difference in terms of stablised boost pressure when switching to the Forge WGA ? Do you see spikes under high load and slight tappering at high rpm still or does the forge WGA completely eliminate these?

I never used the stock WGA on the 20G so I'm not sure.
The only thing I've noticed is sometimes at higher rpm punches Ill get a lil higher of a spike that normal. Other than that it holds boost to 7500. The most drop I've seen with pump gas boost levels is 1psi.
