Broke the sensor...which is it?

I had some problems with my car starting earlier today, and I noticed this sensor was 99% broken off, thus not getting a connection.

I'm guessing its a crank sensor, TPS, or something, but I need to know the same so I can pick up a new one at the dealer tomorrow. Its merely a black, plastic cylinder than sticks into what appears to be a pump of some sort. Has 1 10mm screw holding it into the "pump."

Which sensor is this circled:

Thx...and have a great 4th of July

Makes sense...would that keep the car from complete turning over? It starts, but it acts like its not getting any spark. I also get a constant CEL, that pops right back on even after disconnecting the battery.

Is the CPS a part that a dealer would have to order?

Yes it will prevent the car from running. The dealer should stock it from around $55.

The symptoms you are describing sound like a CPS problem.
I read about members having intermitent missing problems before as a result.

I doubt that autozone, pepboys or equivlent will carry that part.

I usually buy my factory Mitsubishi parts from http://www.mitsubishiparts.net
Average 30% less than the dealer. I usually call them, get the part number,
than order from thier website.

They ship fast too.

Happy 4th of July btw ...

Yes it will throw an instant CEL as soon as you start turning the engine over because it thinks the cam is not turning and the timing is off because it is still picking up a crank trigger signal.

I picked up the camshaft position sensor, installed it, cleared the code, and I'm back up and running again.

Thanks everyone!
