Tranny Oil Change!!

Hey guys, how easy is it to change your tranny oil? Where is the fill/drain bolt located and is there a trick to pumping the tranny oil into the tranny? What should I use?

I hope that attached file helps out. Its really simple. I used a funnal with hose on the end and ran it down through the engine bay and into the fill plug.

the fill plug is just below your intake box... which is what is pictured... you can either use a funnel or use a fluid pump available at most car stores for about 10 dollars.... the pump is easier because the fluid is very very thick and 3 liters takes quite a bit of time

I've heard the oem diaqueen fluid is the best. If you don't have any complaints about the way your car shifted before then I would just stick with the stock fluids.

Here's a decent link. Allthough I'd rather use a pump instead of funnel.

As far as tranny oil. Mitsubishi recommends GL4. I like 2 qts MT90 and 1qt MTL.

That's just my preference.

For the differentials ... Yes
For the a 6 speed MR tranny ...Yes
For the 5 Speed tranny ... Mitsubishi sells bulk or 5 gallon drums.
In the owners manual Mitsubishi is very specific.

A lot of members/owners use synocromesh or bg synocroshift.
It is NOT Mitsubishi's recommended GL4.

If Mitsubishi decides to do a chemical analysis ( which they do )
in the event of drivetrain failure, there can be a great chance of
a voided warranty.

For the MR 6 speed it is imperitive to use DIAQUEEN SUPER MULTI GEAR, or exact equivilent. http://www.lancershop.com/customer/p...&cat=15&page=1

Different from Mitsubishi GL5 LSD Gear Oil Diaqueen :

The recommendations are are SPECIFICALLY in page 7-12 in your owners manual.

Allthough alot of Evo owners swear by it, It's still not GL4.
Technically it doesn't meet Mitsui approval, it does seems to
make for smooth shift. I have to question how well it lubricates
the bearings in the tranny. The syncro's are a different issue.

I just prefer the redline. I've tryed them all. Once the tranny is warmed
up they all seem to work well.

That's just my opinion on the transmission oil. I love my Redline.
