Lightbulb The Best Re-circulating BOV

I Know that the Evolution uses a re-circulating BOV valve because the ECU keeps track of the air that gets vented because it is vented into the intake manifold and if that air is vented to air, the car will run rich. I want to know what all you guys think is the best Re-circulating BOV?

Sport Compact Car magazine has a large article on BOV and diverter valves (recirculating). I am looking at getting one from Forge Motorsports, its billet, holds boost well, is a drop in replacement for the Evo, and costs only $139. Works for me.

Just got a Forge BOV... very nice sound and good value for the money as well

Here's a sound clip from inside the cabin:

What was that Model Number of the BOV you ordered Mark, was is the:

FMDVEV015 - Mitsubishi Evo 4/5/6 Recirc Ram Dump Valve
$ 150.00

They dont list that it is specifically for the Evo 8, but will it work regardless? Thanks

I did get mine from Forge Motorsport directly, but it turns out Vivid Racing also sells them (listed on the Forge site), so you can see if they have a better price.

These are the two models that will work for our Evo:

VTA: http://www.forgemotorsport.com/mitsu...duct=FMDVEV014

Re-circulating: http://www.forgemotorsport.com/mitsu...duct=FMDVEV015

The install takes about 5 minutes. I have an install article almost complete for those who would like a little help on that, but it's so easy you really don't need it. You just pop the stock valve out and pop the Forge in

The one I have right now is the VTA version, but I plan to get a re-circulating version as well since they're not very expensive. I wanted to test out a VTA valve to see what problems may come out of it. So far I haven't experienced any, but if you don't want to take any chances get the re-circulating version. Once I get mine, I'll post a sound clip of that as well. Forge also offer different springs for adjusting the tension if required.

How does the Blitz valve compare to the Forge valve, other than the obvious price difference?

Did anyone notice how loud the stock recirc BOV is with an open element air cleaner?? At least it doesnt have that sneezing sound, Though I actually think I hear it bleeding boost at higher RPMS.. THat or I'm just lusting for an excuse to buy some hardware..

I've only heard the Blitz BOV (w/ air horn) on a Subaru and RX7 and it sounds a little louder than the Forge with more of a Whoosh sound. I'm not sure if Blitz has a recirculating version available. I know HKS offers a kit for their BOV, but Forge actually has two different units (one VTA and one recirc). My personal preference goes towards the Forge unit... I like the sound, it's very well priced, and well built. In the end I think it comes down to a sound preference.

If I ever get my hands on any other BOVs I will test them and record a sound clip for comparison purposes.

Do you have to adjust the BOV from Forge? Looking at the pix, it doesn't look like you can. Are yo running the stock spring that it came with?

thanks

On a stock Evo, the standard spring should be fine, but I can't comment on any modifieds cars running increased boost. I'm also not 100% sure right now because I'm still awaiting a boost gauge (should arrive soon). Once I check the boost settings with the gauge I should have a better idea.

You can adjust the Forge valves by replacing the spring inside with a different color spring (available from Forge). I believe there's also a fine tune mechanism inside the valve but I'll have to ask.
