Boost leak test problem, 0 psi, doesn't hold

I have been trying to test for boost leaks all day.

I have been using a tester that I made and a 5 gallon air tank but the damn thing won't hold any pressure.

I have tried every thing, lets just say my engine bay smells lemon fresh and is completely clean from all the soapy water I have been spraying on it.

I have check all the pipe connection, BOV, MBC, FMIC and LICP. I have even tested the tester.

Is there someting I'm missing here??? Why won't it hold any air?
It stays at 0 psi no matter how much air I put into it.

Oh, I have the front end up on ramps if that makes a diffrence...?

I think I'm just not doing it right.

Let me know if you need more details.

Thanks for the help

Where are you putting the testor? I noticed mine was doing this the other day.. my bov was leaking where I removed the pipe that connects to the intake... put my hand over this and it started holding pressure.

I put the tester on the turbo where the intake goes.

My BOV was the first thing I tested and its not leaking.

You may be having the same problem I have, the gasket from the hard pipe to the LICP, mine wouldnt hold any pressure either and I had an annoying whining sound. I would check the torque on the nuts and make sure its tight, then try again.

This was actually why I tested for leaks, the LICP is such a pain in the ***.

I took the LICP completely off and replaced the stock gasket with a new one that came with the LICP and bolted it down as tight as I could get it with out breaking the bolts.

Then I sprayed it with a **** load of soapy water, still no leak.

It seems this is becoming a serious problem for me.

Do you have any vac lines that come in the cabin (boost gauge, ebc etc,,)?

Did you unhook your mbc if you have one? Hmmm this is weird that you can't hear any air coming out anywhere.

Yeah I have a boost gauge and it works fine.

I also have a hallman MBC and didn't cap any thing off, but I did Spray it with soapy water.

I just figured I would reach a PSI and then it would start leaking.

Yeah that's what mine does so I just cap it off.

It's got to be leaking somewhere or going into the motor hmmm

How can I tell if it going into the motor and how do I stop it?

Is there something wrong with my waste gate?

well it shouldn't unless if the gas pedal was pushed down.

You may try capping off all vac lines to narrow it down even more... I wish I could help ya out.. it's easier to figure stuff out when it's right in front of you

Ok, so I found the leak. It's coming from where the Lower IC Pipe connects to the turbo.

I have one of two problems:

1. The bolts are torqued enough (which is a complete pain in the *** seeing how the bolts are 12mm and the socket is too wide to fit where I need it to )

2. I need a better gasket. I have a metal one on there right now and I think I need a carbon one.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks for all the help.

Eh ^^ Those should be hex or allen type bolts :\ They are a real PITA to deal with. I put mine on with some sealant + stock gasket before I dropped the entire assembly back in. If you take the alternator off/out it will make things easier.

i thought the alternator was on the intake side of the engine? how would removing that help in replacing the gasket on the licp when its on the exhaust side of the engine?
