this is very interesting to me because i did all the calculations previous to this post because i was courious, with the stock gearing and a rev limiter of 7200 rpms, i think the best top speed u can get is like 162-165. i dont remember the exact number but it was something in the 160's. what kind of rev limiters are u guys running hitting 170?

Ignition map 1 is active when coolant reaches over 149F. ignition map 2 is used once it is warmed up, and ignition map 3 is used for limp mode when there is a major DTC triggered. so map 2 is the primary map so tuning the Evo 9 should be the same as evo 8, the only difficult thing to tune is the mivec, which there's only one vendor on here started to play with it "EFIxMR". All those other vendors offering flash only messes with the ignition timing and octane maps.

they could be talking out of their ***, or could be "indicating" 170. Above 100mph the stock speedo is very inaccurate (optimistic) just as Malibu Jack said earlier.

Why do you say this stuff, vboy? Several tuners are tuning the MIVEC. Why would you think only EFIxmR is doing it? That's just senseless...(btw, noticed the vendor tag removed - assuming due to this thread).

dude u had to be up there in the revs, like 8g's. ur lucky u didnt put a valve through your piston, (assuming stock head).

acutally about the mivec, so far i haven't seen anyone posting about it except EFIxMR. Also about the vendors thhing you might want to do some research before assuming stuff. The reason my vendor account doesn't exist anymore because i was never suppose to be a vendor, there a glitch somewhere on evom. don't believe me?? give Evom Staff "CharlesJ" an PM.

that measurement still relies on accurate calibration of the tire size, gear ratio, and final drive. This simply correlates rpm/mi and could be an accurate measurement technique if all of the perameters are correct.

Lots of people rev to and over 8k on stock valvetrain, I know I have, with a stroker ...... do a lil research on the topic.

YOu haven't seen people post about it, so that means he's the only one doing it? Now really, come on...did you even think about what you were saying? As if all the expert Evo tuners were just completely oblivious of the MIVEC aspect of the IX ECU and were just making all that amazing power without touching it, but then a new guy suddenly becomes the first person to mess with it when EcuFlash comes out? Seriously...

Why would I "research" your account status? Regardless of it was a mistake, the fact that you had vendor status and were behaving this way is what brought it to the forefront...

well the evo engine is a lot stonger than people think. Also on 5 speed 80mph is about 3400rpm. so 160mph is about 6800rpm. 10mpg Should be a little over 7k i think.

true that. drag races, it's ok to rev it up to like 8000rpm once you are off the line. you are not going to blow up. Why do think AL flash rev limit to 7800rpm ??
