not a straight straight drop in, needs cam gears to make everything work with the Evo head. Bolting it in is a drop in though.

I'm doing the upgrade right now you need for sure

Adjustable Cam gears
2.4 Head gasket
Water pump adapter
4G64 Timing belt.

Thats all if ur running Pump gas

My work is being done by Modern Automotive Performance. Chris is a Huge Help when is comes wo these motors. As they have a 1053 HP Evo on there stage 2 2.4 block might cose a little more but there Reputation is solid and goes way outta there way to help you out even if u live 350 miles away.

Sorry for resurrecting this post from the dead but this is great stuff. What I want to know is what the real power gain would be if I bought a 2.4l long block and built it instead of getting cams and an fp turbo etc. Then when I do get a big turbo setup I can really go big without putting a window in my block . What numbers would I be looking at with the 2.4L, Mivec head and 9 turbo?

You are really going to want cams with a 2.4L

^Yea I know but it would be so much easier doing a block up first, instead of starting with S1's then when I get a bigger turbo I'd have to do the cams again, then I'm also worried about my stock block at that point. My whole thing is I don't wanna spend money on the same parts more than once and I hear people say constantly they wish they started with the block first. If I start with the block I can jump right to a GT35 or 40 kit and S3 cams when I'm ready to upgrade the turbo. This will be an extra motor. Buy the 2.4L block and start putting all my time and money into that instead of the fp direction on stock block? I'm thinking I can have the motor done and ready for the head next winter, by that time my car will be off the road. Perfect time to pull my head off and swap, install cams and a big turbo. I guess I'm worried about reliability/driveability and if this is really the smartest way to go about it. Or if I should stick with what I have and build. My goal is around 450ft/lbs and 500whp as a summer dd and I don't want to worry about my block.
