Well at if you paint that shield you can tell the dealer it's stock
It's okay dude. FWIW, most of the (hand) welds do look pretty good, the area around the 'expreme' plaque is a bit busy so I guess it's probably kindda hard to get in around there.

Anyway, it's going on a stock turbo. This is what they claim (which is probably a little exaggerated):

The blue line is apparently stock evo8 + O2 housing (Tomei) + downpipe (Tomei) + ex. mani (Tomei).

nice piece, but the whole "expreme" thing geeks me out.

I love japanese advertising sometimes.

It looks identical to the ebay ones when they go really skimpy on the filler metal. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they're all made in the same place.

As far as I know, noone else makes manifolds from cast pieces welded together. All i've seen are fabricated from stock (or otherwise) thin walled tube sections. Nothing wrong with that, but just pointing out the main difference.

Not an huge expert in welding, but I don't think there's much of skimping of filler material. There's a correct amount and there's too much. To my eyes, these look nice, like a row of small coins.

I hope I don't come across as being protective of my purchase or anything, just pointing out facts that may not have come across well in the pictures.

The welds on the piece look fine. The only place they "look bad" is the shot looking into the port and they only look bad there becasue they are ground to match the ports and you can see some low spots.

Around 870USD or thereabouts. See post #4...

Will look again at low spots. I seem to recall they're marks and crap rather than posorities. But I'll check. Don't think they'll have too much of an effect though (?)...

I don't think it's anything to be worried about.

Just looked.
-Some minor low spots. I believe hotrod2448 that they're nothing to be worried about.
-Lucky that I looked in fact. The crap left from grinding is still in the manifold. That wouldn't be any good to the turbo, I think. Will have to clean tomorrow...
