I know how fast it leaks. I fill up the reservoir and go down the street and it is empty. Yes the pics suck, it is too hard to get under my car with light. But believe me it has a hole.

How does a downpipe melt / wear a hole in a transfer case? That makes no sense in the first place.

2nd ... your dealer is ****!ng you if they want that much. You can buy a brand new STAGE 2 transfer case with a ralliart LSD in it from ShepTrans.com for $2,550.00 shipped! The install is NOT EASY, but there is no way it costs $2500. Should be more like $700 in labor.

So there is metal missing? Or is it just cracked? Does it appear to be a crack or actually metled? Your description of this "hole" is very very vague.

It is melted. I can see a hole. The price does not bother me. 5k sounds good when you are going to get all of it for the job. I know I am going to have to replace the transfer case, but how bad do you think my tranny is?

I wouldn't expect the tranny to be ok, especially if it was run dry.

The tc would go before the tranny does since the tc was being ran w/o any fluids

Sent you a PM. I have a good t-case for sale and a tranny that sounds to be in better shape than yours for sale on the forums. PM me if you or anyone else has any interest in it. Good luck.

A DP melted a hole in a TC????? Are you serious?? I had a rod shoot out the back of my block at 3000 RPM and hit the TC square in the face and didn't even put a hole in it.

Assumptions are useless without pics of the TC. Beware of the Dealer.

Im taking my dp off today and heat wrapping it. I dont want this to happen to me. I know my dp is dented and so is the tc, i dont wana have to buy a new tc. This is still surprising that the tc got a hole from the dp, theres plenty of ppl here that their dp rattle and hit the tc. Mine has like 1-2 inch cleareance but it hits the tc when the car is in motion and it rattles even more with the a/c on
