Hole in transfer case from exhaust...Help
It would rub a hole in it not melt it. T-case fluid is separate from tranny fluid so your tranny should be fine. Have it welded or just drop the downpipe, clean the whole area with acetone and J/B weld that bish up to see if the T-case is shot. I would either have a good T-case put in or have yours welded and rebuilt b/c if you ran your t-case out of oil and drove it without oil it will be shot! Does is whine? Ask TRE how long a T-case with last with no oil.

I don't get why people would knowingly use a downpipe if it hits the TC? Mine fits perfectly and doesnt hit a thing. I guess Its kinda funny in a way, but at least I chose a brand that works properly.

No...b/c as some point your dp was rubbing on the t-case. Wrapping the pipe will just wear thru the wrap and then rub on your T-case. You need to fix the T-case AND either re-bend the dp or buy a new one. You might be able to loosen the bolts at the turbo and move it around enough to clear the case. Did anybody check your motor mounts for excessive clearance? Did the car have other mods done to it?
Take off the transfer case and post some clear pictures of this so called "hole". If there truly is a hole in the transfer case, I think it would be good to have some pictures so we have some proof to debate on what the possible causes were.
It rubbed a whole in it! If your head does not melt how could a DP EVER melt a whole in the T-case? Your exhaust port on your sand cast head doesn't melt, why would the gasses leave the head, cool off in the turbo/DP and then melt the T-case...THEY WON'T! There is no debate hear as to what happened.
WHAT!!! dp will caused a hole in the TC? wow! this is new to me! how the driver able to drive the car when the dp is rubbing agaist the TC? wouldnt it caused a lot of annoying metal to metal noise when u drive?

Ok I am going to sum everything up. The turbo back on my car has a magnaflow muffler but the piping on it looks like a shop made it. It has all of the 3 pieces to a turboback though. It might just ne a cheap set up. Looks like it. I never heard any noise from the bottom. It is weird because it kinda looks like the down pipe is a little welded onto the transfer case which would explain why I didn't hear any rattling. I didn't hear any whining while driving it. The fluid will drain in a matter of minutes though, so yes it has a hole. I will post better pics with the downpipe off as soon as mitsubishi gives me a quote on paper to give to the dealer that I bought it from.
This is what I am doing with the car. If and when I get my money to get it fixed, I am buying a Quaife front LSD in place of my stock one.
putting on a new cover and a nice flush. Everything should be good after that. Also I am getting a whole new turbo back that is better quality and will not rub against my tc. If I am missing out on anything please let me know.

I don't know man, I'd venture to say that there are other things not right on that car too. It just seems like it was abused with your desciption. Unless, you got a super sweet deal then yeah, hit the Lemon Law with this one.
