6 puck or street disk?

Well its clutch time again, and after talking to a few different vendors, I wanted to see what you guys would recommend. I am basically looking for something that can support about 450whp. The car is more a street car than a track car, it might make it to the track a few times a year. At the same time, it is no longer my daily driver. An Exedy set up right now would be out of the question do to $$, so I want to try another ACT set up. So far on that general consensus is:

ACT Pro-lite flywheel
HD pressure plate
6puck disc ... or

ACT Pro-lite flywheel
HD or Extreme pressure plate
Street disk ...or

Another recomendation

What do you guys think? I need to pick and order something today, cuz now the car is tying up a lift at work. Thanks!! the help is greatly appreciated!!

Have you driven a car with a puck clutch yet? They can be a little harsh to enage. You might want to see if you can drive one first.

Ya, the last set up I had was a 4 puck. Which I quickly learned (10k miles) that it is not a good commute clutch. But now with actually having a dail driver again, its not as much of a concern.

Yeah I'd definately stay away from the puck clutches.. not only are they a PITA to drive.. they can be pretty harsh to the evo drivetrain. Exedy Twin is the best IMHO but since you can't go that route... you're not really left with much A lot of guys that saved money using a ACT HD single are now buying an Exedy Twin (from what I've been reading).

I would never put a puck clutch in a daily driven car.

If you get a sprung hub they are not bad. Solid hubs are nightmares.

Honestly unless you are putting down more then 567 ft/lbs of torque you do not need a puck clutch

I agree, I had ACT 6 puck in my Supra with spring hug and it was b!tch to drive. The bad thing was that I had a built motor and put in the the new clutch at the same time so breaking it was pain in the ***. I think I stalled that thing over 100 times bofore 1000 miles.

i have try both. the ACT 6 Pucks is aswome for drag or roadracing. But in traffic/street it's a pain in the *** to drive. The street disc is perfect for both world. For some odd reason if you do decided to get he 6 pucks, makesure you the get the 6 pucks disc with spring hub.

Check with TTP Performance about the ACT HDG6. It grabs like hell and does not suffer from lock out issues like the street disk clutches.

i have the act 6 puck and hate driving in rush hour traffic... it grabs like hell and if you're not use to it, it can really be a PITA... it is great at the track though... oh well, you win some you lose some...
