Boosts in gear~ **New questions**

Quick question: I have a turbo xs manual boost controller and a blitz DTT turbo timer~ when I check the boost, it is different in each gear.

1st: 1.49 kg/cm
2nd: 1.52 kg/cm
3rd: 1.56 kg/cm
4th: 1.56 kg/cm
5th: 1.58 kg/cm

Now is this normal? What is my actual boost?

The car is tuned w/ Dynoflash w/out road tune, test pipe, 3" downpipe, 3" espelir, intake, and xs boost controller at 'normal' setting.

08/25/06 **new question**

For another question: I recently changed my battery due to just the time that it has been in the car, but the volt gauge seems to be acting funny.

Even under the slightest load, like the blinker being on, the meter goes up and down whenever there is load. Is it supposed to be that sensitive? When I had the meter on my 350z, there seemed to be no problems of that sort. Could it be an alternator problem?

it's normal. What rpm are you checking the boost at? Most people here go by the peak boost in 3rd gear.

get a boost gauge that reads #'s!!! but that looks normal. higher gear will hold more boost. what RPM are you getting these readings? and how are you so acurate with it? does the blitz have a read out?

I would pay much attention to the accuracy of the boost reading in first and second gear. There is no really much time to accurately read the boost.

3rd, 4th and 5th gear offfers you a much consistent boost however they are also the gears that makes the boost spike/peak the most, particularily 4th and 5th gear.

Your boost readings sounds OK to me.

The DEFI electronic gauges with the controller are indeed one of the best investments in the market. You can record the boost and replay it that way you can see the progress of the boost as it goes to red line.

It is such a great diagnosis tool..

Thanks guys, I feel a little better about the car.

The Blitz DTT (dual turbo timer) reads the boost digitally and maxes out at 3500 to 4000 rpm. I also have an MR analog boost gauge, but it seems like the reading is slightly lower than the digital gauge -- or it could just be that I am not reading it correctly cuz I'm concentrating on driving.
