Update on TurboTrix HP61 turbo...

Well, changed out the housing with a .82 a/r and upgraded my BOV to a Tial to handle the pressure.

Went to TTR Friday for a retune and check up on the power numbers. Results were way better than the first time around with the .63 hotside and weak leaky BOV.

Car feels awesome now and pulls hard as hell up top

Impressive numbers, but I can see why you miss the 50 trim, thats one laggy *** snail.

and was this run on pump gas?

I can almost guarantee that run was on race gas. 50 trim on race gas will hit peak boost around 5k or a lil later, on pump gas 4500 or so is usual on a 2.0.

Here is the 50 trim graphs for comparison, sorry this one is in MPH but you can get a general idea. The HP61 is def laggier, but its not as bad as you'd think driving the car its very comfortable. Just don't expect to have anything below 3k like you would with the stock turbo. Neither the 50 nor hp61 have anything below 3k.

Guarenteed on pump? At over 500whp? Sorry to dissapoint you but no.

If you all will read even 5 more lines into my sig, you'll see its pump + meth.

Haha i meant race gas. THC does have its downsides....... Were my guesses for full boost on pump/race close atleast?

Also do you think the 50 trim would be faster at the track with the greater tq numbers?

Boosted- The 50 trim makes more whp on pump gas than any other turbo for the most part. You might find a GT35R or some other BIGG turbo making bigger numbers but at the expense of a lot of tq. Dollar for dollar on pump gas the best choices are a 20g, 3076, and 50 trim in the order from worst to best in that size range, on race gas the 3076 tends to put out very similar hp numbers but much greater tq numbers.

LOL, I know what you mean, it does have its effects on moi at times as well.

Your guesses were pretty much right on, I"ll have to go back and look at some of my 50 trim logs, but I had a full 28psi(on meth of course) at about 4700 or so I think.

Honestly I'm not sure which would be faster, I would hope that the HP61 would simply b/c it costs more and is bigger But then again on stock block, I think the 50 trim is the best ultimate turbo. Anything over 500whp and your looking at a ticking timebomb, and the 50trim puts out 500 with ease and an awesome powerband.

Realistically with the 50 trims powerband, I think it would beat the 61 down the track...but the 61 is going to have a higher trap....I dunno it would be a close race IMO.

Yeah, this turbo would really shine on a built motor where you could rev it a little higher and have the boost up more. Overall driving it doesen't really suck that bad.

508whp 448wtq TTR 50 trim, 93/alky. VS 533whp 417wtq TTR HP61 93/alky.

not sure is it worth to traded 31wtq for 25whp plus slower spools by switching to the HP61... do u feel any difference between the 2?

That's how i feel about 67 trims (37r's) as well. They only give 10-20 whp when at the same boost levels of a 35r, yet cost $1400 more and spool up 800 rpm later, it's like, "wtf?". I can save the money and just drive the car on cold days to get the same power gains, lol.
