Getting some Ratterling from HEAD!!!!

Im getting some knocking or some rattling form the head and what to get some ideas of the cause. Its comming form the head for sure by the Oil cap #1,#2 pistion, or intake mainfold. Would a bad lifter or rocker cause this? the noise, its just a little louder than the normal ticking the 4g63's make. Any ideas would be great.

The EVO oil pressure at idle is rather low. The manual states that 10psi at idle is fine. If you have cams, it may cause some lifter tapping. If its excessive loud, look into it.

I heard and had the problem after I used a different oil filter other then factory. I changed back to factory and sounds fine now. Maybe a myth but alot of people told me I might get lifter noise if I used a filter other then mitsu and thats what I got for using a purolator filter.

Was the noise coming for the pistion 1 or 2 or near the oil filter. I do have a non-mitu oil filter on there now that a shop installed.

I don't know I just knew it was comming from the lifters. It was told to me that I might get this noise before I changed filters but I figure what the hell why would they make it if it would be a problem., Wrong. I drove to dealer after filling with oil, bought the OEM filter, went back home, added some oil in the filter, changed it and wa-la no more noise. Up to you what you do next but OEM filter cost just $8 more for piece of mind.

check your oil..

2$ bet on spun bearing..

Does it to it all the time? and has it progressively gotten worse?

I would NOT drive your car like this.

Im a 100% sure its not a bearing. The motor is a fresly built 2.3 with 230 miles oil level is good. Im almsot sure its a lifter now. The oil has only been changed 1 time and the oil filter is an off brand.
