Yeah, from what I can tell it's completely normal. It's done that since I got it and now I'm over 50k miles on the thing. For the first few starts, I just give it a bit longer of a slip to build the heat up, then it seems fine the rest of the drive. I've smoked it a few times, once cuz a dumbsh*t who stuck me on a ramp in a parking garage, and one half launch gone wrong. Both of 'em stunk for a good while, but like I said, 57k and still going. I actually bought all the parts a while back because I thought it was going, that was 10k miles ago...lol.
