6 Speed Tranny a weak link?
The UK FQ-400 and FQ-360 use a six speed transmission. I'm certain that people are road racing these cars. With the additional torque, it seems almost certain to me that they would be busting their transmissions quicker than us.
Does anyone know which company is responsible for designing the modifications for these cars in the UK? Maybe we can get specs on their transmissions and gain some insight.

Different part number doesn't mean different part. You'd be better off assuming it's the same part (most likely) until you find verifiable evidence to the contrary instead of "that one guy on that website said this". My money says your 4th is just as weak as mine.
thats just what i have found out on the posts regarding this...
noone has actually verified it though, so you are correct in that...
even those who have rebuilt the trans...

This hasn't been bumped in awhile. While browsing the latest issue of
sport compact car, I noticed there are a couple companies making gear
sets for the evo. So for sh*ts and giggles I contacted the one company
in australia called modena engineering to ask if they planned on making
a gear set for the 6-speed. Here is his reponse.
Hi Michael.
We do make gear sets for the EVO we also supply Ralliart but as we
started to do the design on the 6 speed there engineers took one look at
it and said it was a piece of sh*t and we also agreed that it was not up
to the job in a rally car and also in road cars as well. Your best option
is to go the 5 speed same as most reams over the world.
Regards frank.

wtf?
Did they even bother to say WHY they called it a POS? The tranny is smooth, shifts like butter, delivers power perfectly well, is plenty strong (endless shock from drag racing), but just can't handle heat very well from road racing..
I'd like to hear more as to why they said that. Straight cut gears would substantially improve the tooth strength, and the added oil capacity and active pumped cooling should be sufficient...

Since this was bumped...
My car now makes 35wtq more than when I ripped the teeth off 4th gear last. This is still with the stock turbo.
My FPgreen is going in the car in about a week.
Anyone want to place bets how long my second 6spd is going to last?
