Hey guys... thought id get some more posts and help in this section... I need your help. Im really stressed out... ok so here’s what happened... I pulled into a parking lot nearby to drop my friend off at his car... as soon as I pulled over I saw a huuuge patch of smoke coming out through my hood so I popped open my hood and noticed an unbelievable amount of smoke being emitted from the engine bay. It was so bad I couldn’t even breath I had to step back… it smelt like something was burning badly… let the car idle for a few more minutes to see if it would go away and it did. So then my buddy and I were driving back home and everything seemed fine until I started to hear a whining noise when we were cruising in 5th gear. It sounded like a tranny noise but I don’t think it was. My foot was just sittin on the gas pedal barely even pushing it down. It made the same noise like in take off in first gear like you can hear the tranny whining up as you continue to speed up, but not just in 1st gear… it was in all 5 gears. 5th gear being the loudest. As I continued to drive home it kept getting louder and louder. It never made this noise before and I also noticed that about 45 minutes after we left the canyons it still smelt like that burnt smell from the engine bay. It never went away. I hopped in my buddies evo ix to see if his was making the same noise but his sounded completely normal and had no whine to it at all. One last thing I noticed was when I revved my car at idle, it had a shutter to it and it sounded like air being let out of an opened tube somewhere… did the same thing in my buddies evo and his didn’t shutter as much and didn’t sound like air being let out from somewhere… much more clean and smooth sounding…By the way both cars are completely stock 2006 evo ix’s. im gonna take it to the dealership on Monday to have them check it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated…

vacumm line might have come off.

 

doubt that could be it. even when im cruising at around 60mph and throw it into neutral the whine is still their and is incredibly loud

 

The smoke screen indicates something blew. Could be 20 different things. trying to guess over the net is pointless. Relax. Your car is stock so you have no worries about not being covered under warranty.

 

What was the smell? could you describe what it smelled like? Fuel? clutch smell? need more info.

 

alright guys so i ended up droppin the car off at the local dealership (south coast mitsu which i have outstanding respect for their customer service). i looked under the car as i backed out of the drive way and noticed several spots of yellow **** colored fluid all over the floor. it had a puss look to it with many white spots in it. as i finally got to the dealership the car started smoking again but not as drastically as last night. we looked under the car with a flash light and noticed motor oil had been sprayed everywherrrrre.... i dont think the whine noise had anything to do with the oil leak though... im assuming i have more than one problem... these are the conclusions i have come to:

transfer case is done? (whining noise)
turbo lines leaking? (yellow fluid)
and obviously the motor oil leakage but not sure from where.

im going to call the dealership in the morning to find out for sure. i guess i should also had i have around 1000 miles and broke the car in fairly easy within the 600 mile margain. dont know why i would have so many problems so early on? any other opinions are greatly appreciated.

 

damn.. dude if it persists lemon it forsure
