Interesting info on Works tuned P2R Evo...maybe the truth?

Link to Norcal Evo discussion

From a member on Norcal Evo:
here are my logs from evo scan with a "works" p2r flash. i should have started logging at a lower rpm and stopped at a higher rpm. a friend of mine was with me, so he was logging while i was doing the driving. we're both new to evoscan datalogging so newbie mistakes existed....but its pretty self explanatory, "works" needs to re-tune my car.

this is on an eov ix mr at 9200 miles. everything stock except for p2r flash and works drop in filter. used 91 shell gasoline ( i know, i know...shell sucks. but was the only gas station nearby or would have ran empty to the bone)...third gear pull at night on an empty stretch of road in san mateo.

thats some serious knock- but something seems up with it skipping 6 knock counts in one datalog at the end- he should see if the car is pulling massive timing or if its phantom knock such as a lose heat shield

and btw in the eastcost i get the least amount of knock with shell gas

Yeah, show us timing next to the knocksums. It is a common mistake to just look at knocksums and assume the tune is bad, although it's of course a possibility.

Dang! I dont know much about tuning and logging, but i know thats pretty messed up. Also, here in GA Shell has some of the best gas around. I only use Shell and BP and notice a small improvement over Quiktrip and the such.

You need to look at the data more closely before we start on our favorite past time...vendor bashing.

I myself am experiencing boost cut, but I'm not complaining that my XEDE sucks. I am still diagnosing the problem.

you bought a flash that wasn't even tested on your car, what did you expect?

correct me if i'm wrong, but did works do anything other than ask your mods and blindly flash a file into your ecu, made sure it starts and charge you $600?

Do you expect to make power and not knock with no road or dyno tuning?

Yes, kf6ytc, that's what they advertise, so that's what people expect. There are countless Dynoflash base flashes out there that work great. Base flashes are made more conservative for that very reason. No base flash should have such high knock sums, especially not when you pay $600.

what are the units for the 'airflow' value? I'm use to nissan's where it's given as a voltage. I find it a bit odd that the 'airflow' seems to peg '1603.95'. If that's the MAF maxing out, that would lead to the detonation.

Might just want to make sure these guys got the correct program also. Maybe they got 93 octane instead of 91?

Also, though I don't think too likely, worn out or too hot of a heat range spark plug.
