EVO VII GTA Engine Known Problem(s)
Hi there,
Just bought an Airtrek Turbo-r - EVO VII GTA 240HP AWD and enjoying my car every moment of it.
- Anybody can help identify any known problems and what to look out during maitenance?
- How to maintain the engine correctly?
- What are the minor modifications that I can carry out?
Just did my first service, re-fill the ATF and engine oil using semi-syn and I was told to service the car every 5000km.
Thanks.

Congrats on buying a Turbo R.
Correct the AirTrek Turbo has 240ps but the GTA has 272ps. So I couldn't honestly say that you have a GTA engine or they are identical until I check the differences or for starters you could check that out yourself. But I'm sure it's only a minor thing that restricts the Turbo R from more power/boost, perhaps the ECU, injector size, I/C size...I dunno, you check it out.
-Basically like any car regular service and pure common sense will see the car last. Best to have the first few services done at the dealer and seek advise from them. Once you get to know your car then you know what to do and what not to do. Also the Turbo R does not have AYC or ACD so you'll have less maintenace hassles for that. There is a wealth of information on the forum, so make use of the search key.
-As for modifications, your probably in the best position to check out what major differences are in your engine setup to an Evo setup. I reckon its very similar to an E3 setup.
Cheers

Hi there .. found out there's more than just meet the eye for the differences with the GT-A and the Airtrek R
visible difference include the intake manifold and the turbo (seemed to be from the Evo IV).. internally could be a lot more
To make it to a stock GT-A power entails alot more than just boosting it to 1.2bar
There's quite a few trekkies
in another forum, and some of them are trying to beat GT-As there

have a look
