Transfer case what actually fails ?
its coming from the states ! and upgraded as well
I got lots of spares but the spare tfer case I got is also damaged (crown wheel and pinion damage) and was going to get redone in the new year - now I got 2 for rebuild !
What upsets me on this is thats its so obviously a latent defect in the design of the drivetrain - stock cars lunch tfer cases - the references on the mitsubishisucks.com and this site are huge for tfer cases problems and they certainly not a cheap item and with mitsubishi refusing to sell individual items is almost "suspiscous" luckily its not the biggest job to get it in and out

If you guys can't help from dumping the clutch like you just don't care and don't mind laying waste to everything around the transfer case I have the fix but jeezus guys learn how to respect mechanical land and the transfer case will live just fine.
Yes driving a pinion with a ring gear is not wise but that's what was needed for the extra ground clearance for a WRC car. Not to mention the EVO was built for going sideways at 100mph through the woods or on a race track, NOT get'n it from a dig. The case is a little flimsy and the bearing arrangement could have been better but I don't think that Mitsu knew that people would be so hard on the car.
Anyway I have the fix.
Who's ready to belly up $3500.
