Yes, they can definitely make it. I just wasn't willing to pay for it for myself. Give them a call or PM the username 4tun8.

The TME IX would be a good choice for around $1100ish(?), available through The Speed Element. Also, you might consider a White Rabbit IX, as built by Forced Performance, for about $1300-$1400(? I think).

Just to let you know, my IX RS turbo (the one with the magnesium) DID blow up. The fins were shattered at the sides. And the car was new... about 3000kms on it.

Supposedly Mitsu has tried to fix the blow-up issue with the mag turbos, but I would stay far away from it. Others have simply said that the magnesium isn't a very good material for this application.

So... I got the JDM 8.5MR Ti turbo (at the time, IX turbos were in short supply). I'm going to be tracking my car, so I'm swapping that out for a IX 20G now.

The IX 20G is probably the best bang-for-the-buck depending on how much you purchase it for. Or the stock IX which spools about 200-500rpm earlier than the 20G but produces less peak power.

after hearing some opinions on my local forums, the best way to go is to just get a 10.5 hotside since im not going to be running methanol or alcohol, what do you guys think?

For just a few bills more than the price of a new 10.5 HS, you could pick up a good used IX turbo that already comes with the 10.5 HS and has the improved cold side as well. However, you must also factor in the install kit, or at least the IX's compressor discharge pipe.

For $150 the install kit isn´t a bad deal. But, I thought it was available for about $90, sourced from <mitsubishiparts.com>.

Some people choose to only purchase the Evo IX´s compressor discharge tube, which bridges the compressor outlet to the IC pipe, electing to bend their existing VIII turbo's coolant and oil lines to fit.

If you should decide to bend your existing lines... then at least get all new factory flange gaskets for the lines.

jordo- Research the threads on the subject of 6-bladed vs. 5-bladed 20G compressor wheels. I think that the Lancershop offering is a 6-bladed 20G wheel which tends to heat up charge air moreso than does the redesigned 5-bladed wheel found in the Forced Performance and Buschur Racing turbos.

$1100 vs $1700
