With plenty of 500whp Evos out there using the stock manifold...I really dont think that it's the bottle-neck on the 4g63.

Stock manifold is the bottle neck of a 4G63 with a 35R and race gas in the upper rpms, but I wouldn't buy a Magnus, I would choose the AMS VSR, much better in design and function, just my .02 !!!!!

what an intake manifold really does is change your powerband. it can make the power come on late or early depending on the design. the more air you can pack in the cyclinders the more power.

I had one with a gain of about 8-10 hp and a quicker throttle response.

If I were to do it over again I would get the stocker ported from buschur..

I'm lookin for alittle more power down low to offset what I'm goin to lose from 280 cams and a larger turbo. Also, can the VRS still run a EGR valve?

The Magnus intake is the unofficial standard for SMIMs, and was for DSMs before Evos ever arrived in the US. If you want a SMIM, you'll not go wrong with a Magnus.

i agree with "co_vr4" i have the bj's intake on my 2g talon but most of the rest of my buddies have the magnus and it's a very nice piece. solid gains are to be made with the magnus. buy it and enjoy it!

I know they've been around for years and have made good power on DSMs. But not everything that worked good on a DSM is good for an evo so........
Anyone else?

I have a Magnus SMIM on a DSM and an Evo 8. Both work very well

That's BS. Either you couldn't drive the car or it wasn't setup/tuned right. I don't need to start with this, but this link explains everything:

Am running the Magnus in my Evo 6, made 750 WHP on nos at 35 psi and the graph pulls to over 8k rpm cleanly with no drop. THis is on a 2.3 stroker with the 37R. Mine was made in 2003 and was one of the first prototype after I sent my stock intake to Marco. THis was way before any other intake manifolds were even made in the market.
I wouldn't say its the best but the design is fine and it does what its suppose to. I have seen significant gains in the earlier DSM motor though.

Then you are looking in the wrong place. Aftermarket intake manifolds reduce power at low rpm and delay spool time mildly in favor of improving power in upper rpm ranges.

FYI
