Best way to make 600 whp

My ultimate goal is make 600 whp with my Evo. At this horsepower level, an Evo should be able to take out 98% of all street cars, including almost every Cobra, ZO6, (some) supras, (some vipers), Z28's etc. Bottom line, it will be hard to find a car to beat a 600whp Evo. Here is my dilemma. To make 600 whp on an Evo, you'll need the following mods (I'm using AMS for most parts, considering I live and work within 20 miles of their shop). I know there are cheaper alternatives out their, but I have to stick with AMS. (some of these prices might be off, but you'll get the idea)

AMS fuel system: $1,300,
AMS GT35R Turbo Kit: $4,500
AMS methanol injection: $600
AMS Built 2.3L Motor: $3,200
AEM EMS w/ all accessories: $1,600-$2,000
AMS P&P Head: $1,800
Install and tuning: (guestimate) $2,000

I won't be able to throw this amount of money at my car for several years. It is so expensive b/c at above 500 whp, you are making more power than the stock fuel system, rotating assembly, valvetrain, and ECU can handle. Why not do this instead

AMS 50Trim or 30R Turbo Kit: $4,400
Nitrous Express 100 shot wet kit: (Guestimate) $2,000
AMS methanol injection: $600
Install $1,000

Any thoughts on this setup? This should get you to 600 whp.

Do you mean 600 WHP? Please speak in terms of WHP and not HP so that it's clear.

We know what can get to 600whp, so are you asking a question or what? 100 shot on an Evo isn't the best idea. A 50 or 75 shot will make huge power and might get you there with those smaller turbos.

Isn't a NX kit a lot cheaper than 2 grand. I thought pretty much all nitrous kits were like 500 bucks unless they were the computer controlled ones like Zex or Venom.

thread corrected, I meant 600 whp. I just want to know:

1. Will that set up get me to 600 whp
2. Is this a realistic setup (ie I will be able to spray more than twice before blowing the stock motor)?

I think you hit the nail on the head with "a several years" you might not even want the EVO in 3-5yrs average car ownership is under 5 years. IMO max out the stock setup and go from there look at Dan. B or Mike1023 both have threads running low 11's @118-120mph on the stock turbo.

If you are looking for the cheapest way to get there AND use AMS, you can save a lot money from what you have listed. I'll tell you how in my next post...

Fuel: First, you could try leaving your fuel system completely stock except for 1000cc injectors and Buschurs little modified Walbro. That should get you there.

Turbo kit: Good choice, no changes.

Meth: No need for meth injection to get there. Do this later when your credit cards are paid off.

Motor: The basic stroker kit for around 2,200 is fine for your goals.

AEM: I'm trying to get there without a standalone, but the AEM is an affordable standalone and the AMS guys have tons of experience tuning this exact setup. Good choice for your goals.

AMS Head: nice, but completely unneeded for your goals. This is a huge area where you can save money. My car made 585whp on the same brand dyno that AMS uses with a completely stock head with just hks 272s. That was with the AMS 35R turbo kit and their 2.3 stroker kit.

Clutch: you left this out. I'd get an Exedy Triple Cerametallic. The Triple Carbon is what I have and it is just too expensive.

Could you elaborate on why a 100 shot on a built motor is a bad idea?

Personally I don't think that you are going to take out many built LS1s or Cobras with those small turbos even with the nitrous. Maybe a 200 shot. It is really easy to make LS1s and Cobras into low 10 second DD these days...

Edit... Didn't see the 35R. That'll do it.

I think your off on your installation/tuning price. Also, how bout a clutch to hold all of this.

Dang. I made 540whp on 880s with just a regular ole Walbro 255. I thought that Buschur's pump was supposed to do better than 30 extra whp than a $90 Walbro.
