Evo IX IS there any point for the 20G-LT
Evo IX IS there any point for the 20G-LT
i have an Evo Ix and i have been thinking about a little bit bigger of a turbo. now i don't want to go huge becuase im not a dyno queen im looking for a good streetable turbo thats spools up within a decent amount of time. i ran across the 20g lt. Would this help me enough to buy it. I know that it is a good upgrade for the XIII but should i even bother on the IX. or should i go with the aps kit or maybe a 50 trim. Ne advice, numbers or ideas you guys have would be apperciated. thanks
i would go 50 trim (from the amount of research i have been doing)..
but where did you see the APS kit being sold? i have been looking all over the place for that kit...didnt find anything.

i say go with a 50 trim, honestly with ur evo IX the 20lt is not going to give u much more power. I think you should pick a turbo considering your overall goal for the car, do you want to be at 400whp, 500whp, do you mind a little more lag??? what do you want your track time to be around.
Are you sure go to www.hopupracing.com its in there. its cheap as hell too? my overall goals to be between 400 and 500 no higher than 5 becuase this is my everyday car and the more power the problems seem to arise. my track time goal ...well like a low 11 maybe a 10 down the road.
do you have any mods/tuning done to your car right now? if not, you should try what the stocker is capable of doing before jumping on to turbo kits right away.
there is more than 50whp to be had on the stocker for less than 2k$ and 100whp for around 4k$ on pump gas. upgrading the turbo is usually more expensive than people think (injectors, fmic, turbo kit, clutch, etc...).
I am debating getting this turbo as well, but I am sure if I spend similar $ on improving suspension/chasis/tires the car will be faster around twisties

also, that is not an APS turbo kit - its ATP. APS stuff is top notch and not cheap! one of my friends has their twin turbo kit on his 350Z with forged engine - nice stuff

I agree with the bolt on route first. A extra 100whp does make the car feel very different. As far as the 20GLT it is a 49lb wheel opposed to a 50lb wheel in the 50 trim. Very similiar results will be had with these turbos.
IMO the 20GLT is a better deal when you can save 1K+ over a 50 trim kit.

but with the 50 trim kit... ya could always pull the turbo and put a larger turbo and sell the 50 trim...
or have couple turbo's depending on how much power < lag (35r) or lag < power ( 50 trim)
cheers!
