If he is not picking up knock then it would be OK regardless of the leaner AFR's. I would personally try to richen it in that area and then add some additional timing to see if I could get some additional power. Leaner AFR's is a good sign the motor picked up flow(power). BTW, wide band O2's, depending on the brand, can have significant variations in the readings. I ran an FJO unit on the dyno and saw completely different AFR's than what the Dynojet was saying. AEM on TT Viper had different O2 values than that of the DynoJet.

i also noticed siginificant improvement in low end torque with the JDM mivec map. this is an evo 9 with nothing but downpipe, catback, and boost turned up a bit with my tune. notice that there is about 45 ftlb increase in torque all throughout the low end:

Is the only difference between the two sets of curves the MIVEC mapping (stock vs JDM RS MIVEC)?

with the JDM mivec maps did you do the fuel timing as well or just the MIVEC map itself? because the fuel timing maps look completely different from ours.

im running the JDM mivec map also just not the fuel trims.
feels better and i havent had any problems.

but thanks for all the info.

Could you post the JDM GSR MIVEC map?

91 is all we get here in California and Nevada. I think Arizona is stuck with it too. Trust me, I would be running 93 if it was available. I cant justify the $5.00 a gallon 100 octane pump price either when Im just putting around town.

on pump gas, my EVO made: 303 whp / 275 wtq

I had the ECUFLASH and EVOSCAN (cable hooked up an all) ready and running to start tuning, but after looking at my A/F ratio on the dyno, it looked very good and very little room to improve. and since i was getting more parts soon, i decided to stay as is.

I then figured since i already paid for an hour on the dyno, i might as well try to upload a JDM MIVEC map from a JDM GSR. (not sure if the JDM RS is better/different)

Same boost on pump, did not change a thing. my EVO made 306 whp and 289.8 wtq, picked up 3 whp and 15 wtq.

Best part is the area under the curve. there were areas that were 22 whp and 23 wtq higher. much smoother graph and faster spool with better midrange power/tq

Very happy with the final result. coming up next are a set of the Cosworth cams

nice numbers bro!
