Engine ticking

I have been noticing some ticking comeiong from my engine bay after an oil change but i think that its jsut a coincidence. Coming form hondas i thought it was the valves but some mitsu guys said its probably the lifters. My only concern is that is it rod knock. Ive never hear rod knock before or ticking. The car some times does and sometimes doesnt make the noise at idle and almost always when i rev it up a bit. Can some one tell me what to look for in each case so i can tell what it is before it drives me nuts.

My 06 IX makes a very slight ticking (actually less than a tick more like a tit noise (if you say the word quietly over and over again you'll get the idea - and the guy in the next cube thinks I'm crazy now)).

I'll mention it at my next oil change and see if the mitsu service guys think it's an issue.

Hearing a noise coming from this thing just makes me nervious. Is rock knock a louder more noticable noise? Like would i hear it over the exhaust when driving? Cause i can only hear this at low rpm and idle when it makes it at idle.

Rod knock is loud.. If you had rod knock you would know it, trust me!! You would barely be able to drive it

I did i used a 5w30 instead of 10w30 but all i used it for was to go back to the store and buy the 10w30. Then changed it after a few days

The noise is normal. Nothing wrong with using 5w30, I use it in the winter.

5w30 is perfectly fine to use, only really needed if it gets way below freezing in your area.
