I'm wondering what people think about replacing the shifter bushings. I'm about to install a WORKS shifter (30% throw reduction) and wondering if it's really worth it to replace the base bushings while I'm in there.

What kind of difference would one expect to see by replacing these bushings? I am stock except for an ACT clutch, but shifting feels kind of notchy right now. Will Bushings smooth things out or just shorten the throw or what? Thanks.

notchiness won't go away but the shifts will feel crisper and more connected....it's how it seems to me anyway.

The tranny is just notchy like that...a stainless steel shifter cable and these bushings will help out a lot though

the knotchyness will never go away. it will however help with gear engagement as the 1-2 shift is common to lock out on you. also, shift speed in all gears is improved.

What will replacing the shifter bushings under the hood do for you? I just bought the Braille 11.5 CF batter and I have to take the stock battery tray out to install it so I was thinking that while Im there I could replacing the bushings but is it worth it?

They will replace the 2 rubber bushings on the transmission. The more bushings you replace the tighter the shifting will be.

Have all brass bushings in the shifter and underhood linkage. Shifter has action like a rifle bolt. There is no increased vibration in the shifter, so there is no reason to use anything less than brass.

As for notchiness in cold weather, that's the tranny, not the bushings.

I'm looking into doing this as well... AMS and Buschur both have alum shifter bushings on their websites. Zaklee makes them. Does anyone have experiance with the aluminium ones? Why would Brass be better?
