Question Suggestion on installing Wideband!

All,

I just purchased a BR TBE and an LC-1 Wideband.

Any suggestions on where to install the O2 bung? There is only like 18 inches between the sensor and the controller.... so I was thinking in the Downpipe.

If you have a similar setup and can place pictures or diagram on where you install it would be great.

I will appreciate your help!

Question

Thanks for your prompt response!

One simple question, did you installed the sensor pointing to the driver or passenger seat?

Just wondering, which way will be easier for the controller installation and wring inside the car.

The really important thing with the Innovate system is to keep the sensor away from the turbo. For my money the best place is right before the cat. about six inches in front of the cat is a grommet that will lead your wires up into the console. You will need a bung in your downpipe, a mufflerguy can weld it in cheap.

On my car I choose the driver side of the downpipe because if I remember correctly there was a bit more clearance. The grommet is on the passenger side though so you might want to look at it with your mufflerguy. Either way I just routed the wires so that they can't get worn by the driveshaft.

Next important mounting thought is to keep the sensor at or above mid-line of the pipe. It does not want to be splashed by condensed water at startup.

Thanks for sharing!

I will lift the car and look for the grommet. From your explanation, I think that the grommet is under the car not in the firewall. Right?

I did mine in the same spot about 6" before the cat. there is a grommet in that tunnel more toward the passenger side that goes right into the center console so all the wiring will be hidden but easily accessible. I had my bung welded in straight up and down...plenty of clearence on both sides and it ended up being a perfect spot

Well... a picture speaks for a thousand words! One quick question, when installed... the bung was facing to what direction?

Thanks to all for sharing the information!

Bung was facing straight up towards the sky. Also the placement allowed you to insert the wiring directly above it through a hole that comes out underneath the passenger side trim from the console. Very convenient!

TTP sells straight pipes with an extra bung for widebands. Does anyone have experience with them?
