Video AMS EVO 8 12.54 at 111mph
I found this on the SRT4 Forum,
"I saw that car on the dyno being tuned. One thing they also forgot to mention in the mod list is that the turbo has been reworked by Forced Performance in Texas. I know the put a bigger compressor wheel on it. I think either a 17c or 18g. But that was free. A deal they set up with Rob Young. The guy that owns FP. If I remember correctly the car made 358 whp. It is alot of fun, I got to drive it a few weeks ago."
If this is not tru please somebody correct them

Also there is some hating going on, Rustang?
Why cant we all just get along?
Peace out

Yeah, it is true that we did send our turbo out for some reworking, we did not keep it on the car for more than dyno testing as the company we were working with wanted to try some other stuff with it. That is why we had an EVO V turbo on the car for the 12.00 run, we had no other turbo to run. These kinds of dirty rumors give good shops bad names.
Much thanks to the folks that are giving us support.

I'm sure AMS is a great vendor. The problem arises when they don't tell potential customers that the Stage 2 kit they are trying to sell them isn't the same thing as the Stage 2 kit that is on their 12 second car. This is inexcuseable, to say the least.
They say the EVO 5 turbo on their car is the same as the factory EVO 8 turbo.
Uh, no.
The EVO 5 turbo is NOT the same as the EVO 8 turbo. Anyone who says otherwise is wrong. Changes to compressor trim, turbine trim, blade shape, aero design, exhaust a/r, housing castings, etc,. are made constantly in each EVO evolution. Mitsubishi themselves attest to the fact that the EVO 8 turbo has been redesigned for improved boost response and midrange torque (which means less maximum flow/hp) compared to earlier iterations of the turbo. Claiming that bolting on an EVO 8 turbine housing to an EVO 5 turbo CHRA creates an EVO 8 turbo clone is a bit presumptuous.
Just my 2 bits,
Honky

Regardless of which roman numeral is put behind the turbo on our car, the fact still stands that the car made the same HP with both turbos, it's a fact. We are soon to be done with the stocker anyway's, as we are working on a turbo kit for the car.
Stay tuned for updates.
