Stock head bolts, rather.

- 26.5psi on alky
- 14 months with lots of racing, including long 4th and 5th gear pulls while road racing

He said high boost - 23 is very normal, and 25 isn't enough to worry about. Even my 26 is relatively tame compared to what most do on alky.

Jkim, what's your question? SlowCar is asking who all runs high boost on alky or race gas with the stock head BOLTS (we don't have stock headstuds - minor technicality).

arp replacement was a fad that is now being seen that they are really not needed, look at all the 9s...

I don't think it's the boost that'll kill you, but more the detonation that is more prone at higher boost levels. Those that have had HG issues on stock bolts probably detonated, but they're in a state of denial.

Running ARP's at 23#'s here. lol.

i spiked 27 and tapered to 24.5ish (stock BOV) that was on about 100 octane. i got a little worried about it so i started calling shops to see what they thought about arp headstuds in my evo IX and they said i dont need them for my level of boost. but this is a really good question and im sure someone with a tone of knowledge will answer it the best.

It's not so much the boost level to consider. If you run 25psi with the stock turbo the stock head studs should be fine. If your running 25psi with a gt35r or bigger, your running on borrowed time.

Bottom line, the stock head studs work fine with the stock turbo, no matter what kinda boost it's pushing. If you upgrade your turbo, ARP head studs should be used.
