Aftermarket cams?

I've been seeing a lot of sites selling the HKS camshafts and cam gears. I was wondering if anyone has installed these yet and what kind of gains did they get? I read one site that raved about how much better the car felt and more powerful just from the added camshafts. I've never used aftermarket cams before so I'm interested in finding out. I've only gone with adjustable cam gears.

I also am interested in how these improve performance, since our stock cams are hollow.

Please let us know.

our camshafts are hollow to reduce the rotating mass,
to improve the power you have to increase lift and duration
ive heard hks makes good camshafts for evo
i dont think anyone sells them yet

There are a couple of different cam options for the Evo 8, but HKS is just the best option. There strong, light, and suprisingly cheaper then most of cams. They have both 272 and 264 durations. We have 272's on our car and they help the mid to top quite a bit. They are a little aggresive for a street car though. It idles rough when its cold and a little rough when warm. The 264 are the best street option (in my opinion).

The reason why you do not hear a lot of HP figures on cams is because it really depends on the set up and how thw cam gears are set. They can be better low to mid or mid to high depending on the setting. They are well worth it if you can have someone install them who knows what they are doing and possibly dyno it. We can give suggestions on seeting but a dyno is better.

The HKS and JUN cams are nearly identical.

Neither will do much good without ecu retuning though.
