Since rods & crank are custom the pricing will be a little higher than what we currently have. I'll keep people posted!

I'm running 9.5:1 compression. Stock motor is 8.8:1

That's the reason for running about 2 deg less timing. This is about the most I would run the street with pump gas. You can run 10:1 but you will have to be conservative on your tune. For race only engines not running mega boost (over 35psi) I would run 10:1. If you're going for very high boost, then stick with 9.5:1 or less. We'll probably have two options available when this combo goes up for sale.

Would you recommend keeping the compression down for the California 91 octane users out here like me?

Very impressive!! I would love to see one full tilt with a 37R or larger sporting that 9.5:1 comp. ratio.

You will. Maybe even with more compression that that.

So this motor achieves its displacement by bore and stroke as apposed to just stroke in the previous 2.3l?

The 23RR is MAD...dyno graph looks awesome & makes great power from a GT30r @ 21psi on pump...now just to win the lotto...Good Build AMS.

+1

im better off pi$$ing in the tank after a night of drinking then using the gas out here.

..but seriously it would be nice to see a reliable engine setup as this 23RR predicts, i wouldnt mind seeing how the internals looks after X amount of miles. The increased stresses on the engines components has always been, and will be a consern of mine, Since i too would like to have both a Street and Track setup. Its all about total enjoyment of ones car i guess...and not just during the weekends.

Considering his comments with respect to piston speed et al, this would have to be the case.

According to my calculations here are some interesting facts:

88mm 2.0L @ 9000 RPM - Tensile (tug) force on wrist pin = 3300 lbs.
AMS 23RR @9000 RPM - Tensile (tug) force on wrist pin = 3200 lbs!!

Reason for the lower tensile force despite higher G's is the lighter piston and the different rod ratio.

I'm working in the two options now and I'm thinking 9.25:1 and 10.25:1 compression as the two choices. This give the 91-93 octane and race guys a choice.
