AMS 50 Trim or Buschur 20G LT? I'm torn!!

I have a delima here. I am ready to upgrade my EVO 9. Right now I have 3" Turbo-back exhaust, AMS LICP, Intake, MBC, Walbro 255 and a road tune by Al. When I upgrade the turbo I am going to go with an AMS intercooler, larger injectors and possibly new cams. I have a 9 so I am still torn between the cosworth cams and the new GSC s1 cams. I will not be running race gas. Looking to run 22-24 psi on 93 daily-if possible.

Obviously the AMS 50 trim is much more expensive, but it is an impressive kit and I can see where the extra dollars are. Looking for an impressive daily driver than can hold its own.

Any feedback from any owners of these two turbos would be appreciated. I have a stock internal motor with only the mods listed above. I don't want to spend the extra 2k on the AMS kit if the 20G LT is going to do the same job. Like I said, I understand why the AMS kit is more (beautiful headers, TiAL wastegate, BB Turbo) but if it is similar to the 20G LT I will probably be going with it. Again...any feedback from ACTUAL owners or tuners. I have read most of the posts on both of these turbos and they appear to line up fairly close although variance between dynos have made a direct comparison difficult. It appears the 50 trim has the edge in the numbers war on pump. But a direct comparison would be nice.

I have an EVO 9 with the mods listed in the 1st paragraph.

You could also get a 50trim from Buschur too. About $3000.00, and you'de get a dual BB Garrett turbo, and a 44mm TiAL wastegate.

Or you can consider the 20G-LT, which flow rate is very similar to the 50 trim and sttill have stock spooling charateristic.

I have AMS' 50 trim kit and love it. You can see my numbers in my signiture. This was done with a clutch on the way out in 95 degree weather humid as hell out. I do have their intake manifold too. That is the only mod I have that most people don't. Otherwise, it's got HKS 272s, AMS fmic, ic piping, tbe, etc. It was tuned on a utec if that makes a difference. I love the kit. My motor is stock as well. I think my numbers speak for themselves. Car was tuned at AMS by Martin.

We are waiting on turbine housings to be machined for our BB 50 trim kits. It looks like our other cast manifold turbo kits. They will be $2995 like our other kits. I am going to work on making the kit fit with the stock engine fan and using a 38 mm gate when we finally get the turbine housings. If I can do this I should be able to drop the pricing down to $2795.

Dave, it sounds like you are doing your best to make a 50 trim affordable for a lot more evo enthusiasts. Will the 50 trim have an edge over the 20G LT in pump gas power or will it be a close toss up? I think that my delima is in line with many others on this board. We are looking for a turbo that will give a good upgrade over the stock evo 9 turbo at pump gas boost levels (22-24 psi if this is possible) with all of the bolt ons you recommend (Walbro 255, Injectors, Intercooler, Intake, Tune, Exhaust, etc.)

I may consider alcohol or meth down the line, but I do not want to depend on it to give any appreciable gains for the turbo I decide to go with.

Also...any feedback on cams for the EVO 9?

Best,

-MIKE

$2795 for a BB 50 trim would be a great deal.
