BADEVO, have you dynoed on the ShowZone Mustang dyno down the street?

I thought it would be an interesting comparison to the 409 (whp right?) dynojet.

colder plus? which ones?

i ve been told that the IX doesn't like other plugs except the OEM ones...

i got a new set for my car (the nkg iridium that the factory susggests). On my car they work perfectly so i don't know yet if i want to change them....

They are Denso IKH24.

They are one step colder than stock. NGK only makes a racing plug upgrade for $34.00 each.

One fact: A IX on MeOH, with bolt-ons, and WB fine tuned on top a custom base flash (Jester, dynoflask) would easily put down 350-380 on a Mustang Dyno.

As far as one step colder plugs with methanol - why? good plug for that would be 7 irridiums gapped just under 0.024 - 0.025 on stock coils. Run colder plugs on lean racegas mix, but I'm a novice here so don't take everything as valid.

Another thing, what is the main reason for headstuds, I have the stock ones still, do I need them? I figure why would I need them if I'm not severly detonating, the cyl head pressures skyrocket from detonation. Does boost have that much of an effect on pressure?

thank u!!

However, the correction factor was set such to give much higher numbers, just like a Dynojet. With the traditional Dyno Dynamics settings, that works out to right around 340whp, which is typical.

FYI

Hey evolved, im not 100% you can hit 400awhp on pump gas. But it should be close. I have all the mods you do on an evo 8 and nobody tought i would hit 350awhp. And the 9's put out more power. although i would get a set of head studs when you do those cams. You will definatley need cams to get to the 400 mark so you might as well do head studs. But i would stay away from the meth injection, thats to much to risk and there not 100% reliable, thats just my $.02 on that. Hope it helps.

I would say yes to that! Its added security to not blowing a head gasket. Ive seen cars blow them running to much boost on stock head studs. My friend charlie did it on his 350Z with arp headstuds. He had to have custom ones made to secure his heads to the block. Although i doubt this is much of a concern to us EVO owners, its an example of how headstuds are needed.

I need more evidence. Im not going to rush into something when there is no "totally conclusive" dominant cam like HKS for the VIII. That is why Im most likely selling my S1 cams. No company has extremely outperformed the other and none has proven to be the "HKS" for the IX. Also, my goal is to get 400whp. I dont need the maximum amount of power possible with the stock turbo and engine. I just want to hit that 400whp to hit satisfactory. The only reason I purchased the pair of S1 was because it was the last set available before my tune. In my eyes, no one has proven to be the "HKS" yet. GSC and Cosworth have produced great IX cams. Who knows though! Maybe someone will come along that makes 20whp more than both (just speculation)! When that day comes, maybe I will consider it. Its just too early for the IX cams still IMHO and I dont want to regret rushing into things. This honestly sums it up perfectly guys:

I think that the Evo IX is QUITE efficient and now with MIVEC and a better cooling head, you actually run into turbo efficieny issues before cam efficiency issues. I am sure there would be some power made on the Stock turbio, but nothing ground breaking like with the VIII's. I mean hell the IX's make VIII with cams power, that is a HUGE adance in efficiency.
