Video of 644 whp EVO9 on Buschur Racing's dyno
Blue Evo 8, I honestly didn't think that a ported stock manifold could make the kind of power that I wanted either. I'm sure David was wondering why I kept questioning him on what we were going to end up with. I should have known he already had the answer. Here is a classic example of where he saved me money over my suggestion and got the job done probably better. My suggestion might have lost a little bit on the bottom end, but I don't see how it could do better up top.

On the other hand I'm sure in practice and in theory that the VSR manifold can make more power up top, but probably at the sacrifice of low-end, mid-range and some "streetability"
At your power output of 650-700 AWHP on Buschurs dyno, I dont see why your car cant run low-9's with proper driving...
and also please do report to me how the car is in daily driving scenarios..... commuting to school/work, etc etc

It's been 30 years since I ran anything down the 1/4. Now that I've been given a machine like this, guess the old man will have to make sure I can live up to the reputation of the car. It's got it, now, Do I? We'll see. I really believe that the AMS manifold is a great looking and performing manifold. My only question about it was how would the low rpm response be? I'm glad David did the ported manifold and tb, I know for a fact that it was still MAKING horsepower at 9000 when he shut off. Then engine can turn 10,000 but I don't think I'll spin it quite that high. With the flat hp curve up top, it won't lose much on the shift.
Yes, this car has the stock ported intake manifold on it and our 65 mm stock throttle body. So does my car that ran 9.90's and my brothers car that also made 642 on our dyno and ran 10.1 at 144 mph.
I have NEVER done a test of the AMS intake manifold back to back with our ported stuff. I did buy one and it is sitting on my desk, has been for months. I intend to test is, probably on my own car, at some point in time.
I don't know if there would be any losses at all with it anywhere in the curve, there very well could be only gains. I have no opinion or guess. I have to test it to know.
I do not like using the stock throttle body on the car so a street car can retain good idle control and start up.
There are a lot of parts on the EVO that DON'T need replaced, when a part works for less money I'd rather recommend it than take someone's money for a part they didn't need. I always try to treat a customer how I'd want to be treated.
I took my dog to the Vet Saturday morning. Ends up he has heart worm. The vet started giving me different options. I said, "Look I can make your car fast, I can't fix my dog. What would you do if he was YOUR dog?" So tomorrow I drop the dog off to be treated for it. End of story.
Tom, did you drive it yet?!!

Yes, I drove it from the back of the trailer, down the driveway and into the garage.
You won't believe it, but just as I backed it off of the trailer, a police cruiser drove by and stopped briefly behind me. I couldn't believe it. I live in a private gated community and you NEVER, EVER see them in here. Naturally, I stopped them when they came back up the street. They were just killing time. They asked what I was doing with a car like that. I told them "just got it to have some fun in my old age". They laughed and said 'Be careful', right! I did let them know, cough, cough, that it was street legal. So if they see me, they won't be stopping me, just for the hell of it. No, I haven't taken it around the block because I was putting it on a diet. It lost an honest 100 lbs today. It now weighs exactly 2713. The seats only lost 39 lbs, but the wheels lost an amazing 24 lbs over stock. These are my street wheels and tires. The spare, etc is 37 I think you said, but I didn't weigh it. It's getting lighter!

I just spoke with Tom on the phone. I had to call him because he stole my USB cable. lol He said he is bolting in his seat belts and is hoping to take the car for a spin shortly.
Maybe he will grace us with a in car vid or maybe a fly by video sometime soon.
