The 4G64 and 4G63 cranks are different. Each OEM 4G64 had different variations of rev limits imposed by Mitsu (usually a hair past 6k).

The build of the motor, tuner and actual builder (who knows what kind of rod/piston, CR and gasket combo you are using) should probably help with that.

Yeah, but just 1 time.

I must say that I am interested in this to the extent that I want to make loads of power down low and am willing to give up some top end for it.

I would not hesitate to run 8K on that crank as long as it has a light weight forged piston and rod set that is perfectly ballanced.

ams says to not spin past 8500 on their 2.3L but then again they couldn't tell me any technical specs of weights of any of the components of the motor...they said they don't even balance their shortblocks...

so all we have to go on is hero pulls and heresay... anyone have hard number or facts on actual kits in use that have been roadraced... no dyno pulls or drag coasts.

I have never road raced my car but I do have a AMS 2.3 kit in my motor. I had the internals and new crank all balanced before having the motor assembled. I have 1800 hard miles on my car and I shift at 8500 to 9000rpm. Granted my motor doesn't have 10,000 miles on it but my miles are hard miles, and I haven't had a hint of problems. I guess time will tell.

The crank is not so much the issue, it is the high pistons speeds with a 100mm stroke. I would be more concerned with rod bearings and rods then the busting the crank.
