I Just Blew My Motor!
Are you kidding me? How much "knock" where you experiencing that was KILLING your car up top, and what is the crazy AFR you claim mark left you at to be lean? Curious...because, there could be other reasons why the car is dead up top...how about the whole boost thing?...where the stock turbo will never hold the boost it spikes to on PEAK torque....how about a bad tank of gas that could cause the car to switch ignition maps upstairs?...boost leak? Creep? Maybe the boost is spiking higher due weather change? OR better yet, what are you revving the car to? There is no powerband after 7k on a BPU evo 9..the car falls on its face after 7k, but im sure you knew that...and im POSITIVE your miracle tune didn't really do much, if anything at all... but if your claiming 5mph from your tune, rather then Marks, im game...tune my car for me...i want 128mph on pump!
This was on my older Evo, quit making excuses, the car was tuned LEAN, I fixed it by adding fuel, it picked up MPH and topend. It's a testamnet to the OEM Knock sensor pulling timing to save my motor. I had it pulling nicely to 7500BTW....

If the car had 3” of water in it I doubt that the tow truck driver put it out himself. Get in touch with the local Fire Dept and get a copy of the report that was filled out, its public information and they will be more than happy to give you a copy. The whole fire story sounds suspect to me and the report will have information as to location of fire, cause and origin.

this **** just pisses me off, because any time there's a crash or whatever, ppl jump on it like flies on **** and yell "OMFG let's see PiX0rZZ!!11oneomg!!"
Spend a little time in the ecuflash area of this site and it should answer most of your questions.
Simple fact is, if the ecu detects what it thinks is knock it will pull timing, 1 degree per 3 knock counts, this WILL kill the power if the knock count is high enough.
Not taking sides on the tune argument, just pointing out that if for any reason, the car was knocking on the street and not on the dyno, the power will be way off from what it dynoed at.
and BTW the ecu does not switch maps due to bad gas, it interpolates between the two sets based on the knock sum over time and uses a time decay to move back to the high octane maps as knock subsides.

First of all your not POSITIVE of anything, it wasn't even my NEW Evo IX so your wrong right off the bat, calm down please....It was an Evo VIII Btw. On the Dyno it was fine and my A/F's at WOT were between 11.5-11.8 which ran great on the Dyno Jet. As soon as I hit the street the car would start off fast then bog down like crazy up top. I was only trapping at 106-107MPH with cams and ful boltons so I knew something was up. How bad a tank of gas??? are you kidding? And it wasn't a "Miracle" tune. I simply added fuel....easy. This isn't rocket science.

I looked at the log the OWNER of the car sent me... At 2200 rpm.. there was a 3 count of knock .. at 3500 at peak boost / torque.. there was a 1 count .. by 3800 there was 0 all the way to redline. Listening to some a moron in the parking lot telling your friend his car was going to blow up .. so he can try and make me look bad is just bad business practice. He can play all the games he wants.. i really dont give a sh$t. I have plenty of tunes / logs from the super tuner that gave you the great advice.

I jumpped in cause it seemed to me you were saying there is no way the car was loosing power up top due to a lean tune.
And no, I'm not just getting my info from the internet. I have plenty of experience with ecuflash on my car and a number of others that i have tuned on the dyno. I would dare to say that i have more experience with ecuflash than a lot of folks that get paid to tune for a living.
do not get me wrong, I'm just looking at the situation logically to make a suggestion: You had a relatively lightly modded car, with relatively low miles, given these characteristics, you managed to, destroy (1) transmission, destroy (1) clutch, and have the motor fail (presumibly a ventilated block). I'm not accusing you of breaking the motor yet. It seems to me that you have (3) options on how to proceed:
(1) reconsider the style of driving you plan on doing and ensure you have the budget to support that plan.
(2) buy a new evo and change the way you drive (use it as a street car rather than something you beat the hell out of and throw a ton of mods on)

I've always felt rally cars are not totally about humongous power but about knife edge dancing (aka handling), etc
