Warning for anyone who cares about their transmission...
I was running AmsOil 95w gear oil in my tranny, shifted like butter, and this stuff was so thick, I tried changing it on a cold day, (36 degrees) and I had a hard time getting the oil to go into the transmission. Its quality stuff, and I only used it because the mitsubishi dealers local didnt know what Diaqueen was.

I think you may have a clutch issue. I have used just about every fluid out. I build trannies locally like TRE and SHEP. I have seen the insides of over 200 trannies. I have broke many gears in my 10 second dsm tranny. I simply love the royal purple. Protects the gears far better than GM synocromesh. And it shifts better as well. The GM sncromesh I found is a poor protector of gears . It also shifts great for a about a month then it goes downhill fast. I have royal purple in all my trannies. Its a gl-5 fluid which is better than any brand gl-4. Gl-5 has an extreme pressure additive in it and is very important to extending the life of your gears. Gl-5 is mandatory in a t-case where hypoid gears are used. Hypoid gears slide over each other rather than roll over each other. The sliding motion is very hard on the gear teeth. The EP additive is designed to deal with this friction of the sliding motion. The EP lubricant is necesarry for the t-case to survive. It extends the life of your tranny as well. The trannies that I use with royal purple seem to shift smoother and smoother the longer its in.

Interesting information on the Royal Purple oils...
Looks like we are 1/1 on good/bad experiences.
I am running Royal Purple in my Tranny, Transfercase and Rear axle now.
I seem to like it so far, and have not noticed any more harsher shifting/gear noise/etc..
I have only had it in the car for approx. 3000 miles now, so I won't know for about another 3-4,000 miles if it has any negative effects. (Just to make sure
my car is OK with the stuff, I am going to drain all and refill in another 3-4K miles)
But, thus far, I like the Royal Purple.

Shepherd and TRE both say to DEFINITELY NOT use any GL-5 oil in the trans. I'm not going to type out the entire reason why they both have told me that and they both gave me enough explanation as to why it's bad for the Evo.

That is correct! It is not advisable to switch to a different GL rated oil ...
I was a little hesitant in buying the BG syncromesh stuff and after reading this, I am happy I was a bit hesitant. I will be purchasing 3 qts of the redline MT90 (GL-4) oil for my Evo.
