i just switched my tranny fluid out yesterday with RP 75w-90 from OEM, and it doesn't shift as well as it did with the OEM, car has bout 15600 miles on it. Any body know y, is it just cause the fluid is thicker?

Isn't the RP a GL-5 fluid?

Anyways, I had the same problem with RP so I quit using it.

What Order?

I'v been pulled so many directions on this thread! What I've gathered is that there were many different personal experiences with several types of tranny fluid. If there was a ranking system, how would everyone put these products in order?

redline MT-90

PENZOIL SYNCROMESH

BG SYNCROSHIFT

BG SYNCROSHIFT II

ROYAL PURPLE SYNCROMAX

No on the pennzoil I changed it 2 times in less than 5000 miles due to it breaking down and developing notchyness. And I would prob stay away from BG 1 and go with the 2 if you like BG due to synthetic/non synthetic.

DISCLAIMER!:

If you have a 6 speed, pretty much pay NO attention to any part of this thread. It does NOT apply. DO NOT USE MT90 IN THE 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION. PERIOD. This has been discussed ad nauseum in countless 6 speed tranny threads, do a search. Our stock fluid is thinner, and need to use SUPER Diaqueen 75/85 or equivalent. The GM fluid is 75/85, and I havent heard of any issues using that in the 6 speeds. BG2 and the Pennzoil also work, but theres so much hearsay on all 3 of these that its almost best to just use stock. Personally, I had a synchro go at 9k miles running the bone stock fluid, so who knows. (Hadnt changed it yet.)

Also, for all those preaching MT90, and thats what Shep and TRE recommend, your only half right. Its 2 quarts MT90 and 1 quart Heavy Shockproof. They dont recommend just straight MT90. Use OEM fluids (diaqueen) in the TC/Diff.

I am using what RRE recommended. BG II in the transmission, shockproof for transfer case, mt90 in the rear end. Shifts the same as it did before I changed the fluids out.

None of the above oils would i use......Super diaqueen in the tranny and Hypoid Diaqueen in the diff and tfc.........Just because the redline is synthetic and ULTRA slippery, its TOO slippery and shifting is a problem. Look, put the mt-90 in your car. Run for 1 month.......then put in super diaqueen....run for 1 month. 5 bucks says you will keep the super diaqueen. Opinions on here are just that.....do this test yourself and answer your own question.......alot of us allready have......RRR
