Well I have been driving my evo for some time since the rebuild with the redline mt90 in the tranny and diaqueen in diff and tcase...one the car does not go into gears when super cold, not a problem as i warm my car up before every drive, 2 once its warm you run through the gears once or twice and its butter and i can't say enough about it...

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.
I have to write up a poor review for BGI. I put in BG at 55k and by 60k it was getting hard (lock out) to get 2nd gear - no change was made to the clutch adjustment.

I happen to be at my dealer at 65k for some sensors and since the lift was open had the trans fluid changed out to the Amsoil Trans fluid I had just gotten in from my shop ((https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/mtg.aspx)).

Once we opened the fill plug - note fill plug. Trans fluid came gushing out. I put in the exact 2.9 qts at 55k. Now 10k later the fluid had broken down or expanded to many times its original volumn. The warm (but not hot) fluid also was about as good as water. Just didnt stick to your fingers like fresh/good fluid should. Luckly the drain plug magnet was clean (no metal at all).

Amsoil when in and all gears shift like butter once again. Been on the Amsoil now for 1500 mi or so. And so far so good. Even when I get the car hot - no shifting issues. Waiting for a track day for a full review on it all.

So in short - BG sucked. I dont recommend that stuff to anyone. Use Amsoil, OE, or Redline.

yeah so i just read 2 threads and diaqueen seems to be the safest bet, i remember when i had my suby it was all about the redline shockproof, but thats cuz the trannys are made of glass.

redline's powerpack for the evo is to mix 2qt. MTL(70W80 GL4) + 1qt. MT90(75W90 GL4) = 75W85 gear spec.

I wish I would have seen this thread about 2 years ago. I've been using BGII but just ordered some MT90. After changing my trans fluid this past time I saw TONS of shavings... once the fresh BGII is in my car now pops out of gear about 75% of the time in 4th. My trans is on it's way out for sure.. thanks BG! lol

I will give the MT90 a try just to see if the friggin thing will stay in gear. I wanted to get a few 1/4 mile passes in Friday just to see what it will do before I put her down for the winter.

(sorry for the off focus)

BTW: Always used OEM fluids in the tcase/rear diff and with 70k miles miles of abuse they show no problems.

^^^Yikes! I've never seen so many shavings!! The whole plug is covered! I used BGII for 2 changes but switched to Super Diaqueen which improved shifting incredibly! I'm going to continue using Super Diaqueen in the tranny and Diaqueen in the xfer/diff.

I just did my first tranny fluid change at 16K and went with Super Diagueen...I didn't notice much of a change in shifter feel and it did not remedy my 5th gear grind which just started...sucks...

I've started to use MT90. Did it on my first change, and will once I put her back together again.

so basicly use the following....

Redline MT-90 for the 5 speed evo trans (NOT THE 6 SPEED)

Diaqueen GL5 for the front and rear diffs.

Not good. But since you went from the stock fluid to the Super, there may not be much of a difference. It was a night and day difference switching from BGII to Super Diaqueen.
