Ebay exhaust..My dealings with the vendor

Well with all this debate over Ebay exhausts vs. Name brands, I started doing some searching and found this...

http://search.stores.ebay.com/YOUR-O...540605QQsofpZ0

(isn't there a way to rename your link?)

So I emailed them with a few questions....

"Do you have pics of your exhaust installed on an Evo?"

Li-On Hon--hi yes we do and u got the ebay item number please? thankyou

"These are your ads

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SRS-0...5898QQtcZphoto
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JDM-N...5980QQtcZphoto

Do you have pics of these installed? What are the differences between them, the SRS,RA and JDM N1? Are they the same exhausts? Will they all fit the US spec Evo IX? Thanks."

Li-On Hon--hi yes they will fit your car with no problem guranteed, but some of the auction will only fir the evo 8 ,so we will have to send you a paypal invoice for the evo 9 one. thankyou

His replies were very fast (within minutes), and emailed this pic...

Now that muffler doesn't look anything like the ones advertised, especially with the metal band underneath. And where is the shine? I've had SS exhausts that have dulled and had minor rust spots (InjenSES), but this thing looks like rusted mild steel or something.

So that's gonna be a big NO GO for my Evo!

Just buy yourself a muffler of your choice off of ebay and make the rest of the exhaust yourself. That is what I did and I dont have any regrets whatsoever.

You get what you pay for, don't buy junk for your $30,000 car. There are plenty of vendors on this forum that will give you a good deal on a guality exhaust, just ask.

both options are good ideas, either build your own if you have the know how or buy one cause it will make your life a lot easier. either way 3" pipe is 3" pipe

from looking at the pics it looks like the srs exhaust to me pictured mounted on the rr evo and since there is no hangers welded onto the muffler it would have to use a "strap". as for the shine my hks hi-power 30th anniversary looks like that right now (havent cleaned it in a while).
