I had this problem on a 92 Talon TSI, but it was with 3 and 4 mainly. It turns out that I had a cracked trans housing that allowed the gear shaft to move around, and jump out of gear. I hope that's not your problem, but you may want to look there.

I had this problem on a jetta. Needed a new tranny. I eventually just lost the gear completely and had to replace it.

Take it back to the dealer and be very very concerned... Honestly, I would demand a replacement WHATEVER it is that's broken

Same thing happens to me, clutch in, tap the shifter, and it jumps out of first into second gear real fast once in a while. I took it to the dealer when it was brand new, (around 1K-2K mi.), but they obviously couldn't replicate it cause it doesn't happen everyday. It could be normal, my trans has done it a handful of times since I bought the car, I have 5k miles on my evo now, maybe the synchros are perfectly aligned, maybe I'm shifting perfectly. I get no noise just a super fast shift, if it's not bad it's good.
Keep in touch with me, bring it to the dealer so they can document the problem, then if it worsens you'll have a record of the original symptom. I wouldn't worry about it too much, unless you're getting a loud noise with it or it happens very often. Is this happening when the car is warmed up, the trans is kind've unpredictable when it's cold, once warmed up if I downshift a couple of times the trans feels real smooth and the gears shift way easier/faster. I notice weird stuff mostly when the trans is cold and I'm shifting at low rpm's. Do you have any mod's? My car is pretty much stock just a Blitz Downpipe, Perrin High Flo Cat, Fujitsubo RM01A.

trust me this isnt normal... it happens when i have been driving for a while so as far as the fluids not being warmed up isn't a issue. I bring it up to 3 or 4k, to wind out first gear and boom! it jumps out of gear and you hear this loud thump...

and there are no mods. BONE STOCK

Usually this problem is a result of shift fork failure due to worn surfaces from riding with one hand on the shifer. Where as you only have 1k miles on it, this should not be happening. Id tell them that you want the problem fixed and dont take no for an answer because that is really dangerous.

Goodluck

Wait a sec.....Do you mean it jumps into 2nd without pushing the clutch??
Mine does NOT do that. I just get a really quick jump into 2nd, I push the clutch and pull down slightly on the shifter THEN it jumps. I hope you don't mean it jumps w/o using the clutch or w/o moving the shifter. That is NOT normal.

lol no... it doesn't jump into another gear.... it just jumps out of 1st, all of the other gears are fine.
